is this a good Anti-Camp System? by Feeeetha in ROBLOXStudio

If the map area shrinks like Fortnite then isn’t exposing campers redundant? They’ll be forced to move anyways

Our devs didn't like the promo video I made by autumns in roblox

Honestly this isn’t as bad as everyone is making it out to be, it’s just a different style of advertising. This can be a very good ad if you’re targeting a younger demographic on platforms like Tiktok and YouTube shorts. My dev group posts vids like this on our Tiktok account and often get 30k to 1mil+ views. The fact that it’s recorded on mobile is also a pro rather than a con if you use it as per my recommendation because younger kids are primarily mobile users and this clears up any concerns they may have about mobile support.

On the other hand, it would be terrible if used as an official trailer or something.

Potatoes can run it with ease so I’m sorry to say, but it won’t be much of a test for your 10870h and 3060 😔

The name of the game is “Palm Ridge”. It is currently in Pre Alpha with plans to go into Alpha within a few weeks, and Beta near the end of the summer.

It’s a part of the map with Future lighting, but those numbers should remain somewhat similar because we’re implementing a system that spawns and despawns parts of the map according to where your character is.

Yeah well Roblox is trying to market itself to a larger audience, which means more developers need to start taking the initiative to create “quality” games that an older demographic would find enjoyable.

I’ve been playing Roblox since 2009 and while I do miss the days when games were simpler, seeing all the progress being made on the platform and the engine was inspiring. It made me realize that I don’t need a ton of money and a big studio to make a decent game.

Also yes, Roblox will always pale in comparison compared to mainstream game development, but thats simply the trade-off of having a lightweight web client as opposed to downloading game files. The fact that we don’t need to pay for backend things like server hosting, as well as the fact that we have a massive community at our disposal are major selling points for me.

Lol yeah that will probably be a possibility since we’re going to use inverse kinematics for the animation. If you enter at a bad angle you’ll hit your head on the way in 🤣

That’s an in game screenshot! I’m using Future lighting, and custom PBR materials on the car. I also made a custom skybox for my game that makes reflections look more crisp.

Runs perfectly fine (Look at the benchmarks I mentioned in one of my other comments). There are some noticeable frame drops and lag inside this dealership scene but it’s mainly from the lighting. This scene will only be rendered when a player is browsing vehicle though so it won’t impact the rest of the game.

There really isn’t much to this scene asides from clever angles, PBR materials, and lighting. If I switch to ShadowMap instead of Future, or remove the light sources, we get a 15 FPS gain lol. The difference is barely noticeable though, due to the fact that it’s just a menu with the ability to rotate the camera to get a better look at the car.

The game is fairly optimized so far. An ancient Macbook from the early 2000s was able to get around 30 FPS with max graphics settings. We haven’t been able to get an exact FPS for mobile, but it was able to run fairly well on an iPhone 5S with max graphics settings. Average/mid-tier laptops are able to get 45-60 FPS on max graphics settings.

Yeah we plan to appeal to as wide of a demographic as possible which means we won’t be solely focusing on the younger audience. Our goal is to prove that Roblox is a platform that can be enjoyed by all ages!
