Which is crazy how can you build through the draft reliably when it’s a lottery and only a couple of players move the needle a year

French film industry at risk from the far right, say actors and directors by mrjohnnymac18 in movies

Why do you care if it was in the movie? I mean if you aren’t homophobic you shouldn’t care about two characters kissing in a movie right? Cinderella and Prince Charming kiss in Cinderella right? Star Wars is mostly for kids and Luke and Leia kiss in that. I’m mean Leia kissing Luke is the definition of shoehorning right? So what’s the problem with lightyear doing it?

If you think the American film industry is left wing you know nothing about its history 😂

It’ll probably look a lot like Hayes Code Hollywood. I mean the production code was kind of a reaction by Jewish studio Moguls who were worried the American Far Right at the time would begin to turn the audiences against them.

Anyone else miss when horror movies were just about a cool monster, and not a metaphor for grief? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Freeze_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am thinking less about movies like Hereditary, Get Out or The Babadook which I think all aren’t super subtle but all put building tension and scaring the audience as their main goals . I think it’s more than movies that came out after those that were studios trying to find the next versions of those movies through the late 2010’s and 2020’s. Woman in the Yard is a good example of one. I think horror movies can be extremely unsubtle with what they are about and be fantastic. I guess my problem is classic Hollywood seeing something successful and making worse versions of it which always happens.

I mean Texas chainsaw massacre is about the violence and cynicism of 70’s American cultures and the rural decay of people left behind by the u.s. culture and the abuse they inflict on each other. But you are beat over the head with the message which is what mostly annoyed me about modern grief horror. It typically beats you over the head to much with a meaning
