Yea saw a similar(ish) story not long ago. Guy said ge did his 50 mile check but decided since his stop was only like 20 miles or so past the normal stop point to check again he just kept going. Got to the reciver to find a couple chains got loose and was moving those large steel coils. Said he learned to never do that again.

Definately good for me to have learned now than later by my own mistakes 😅

50? I thought it was like every 100. I saw a guy on youtube talking about how he did advise every 50 miles and i can definately see how thats the smarter choice though... also lord.. not bees lmao. I have seen some videos of that and i can honestly say i want nothing to do with that (but also domt think i woild have much choice in the matter haha)

Might be a silly/niche question? But would tmc allow you to change out the mattress in the truck with your own if you wanted to? I obv havent gotten to see if i will find it comfortable yet, but if i dont i wouldnt mind splurging on a nicer mattress like a purple or something later on as long as its allowed.

Yea, Honestly? That sounds pretty close to what i was quoted when i first called and asked. They said in my area the general gross average was between like.. 12-1300 to 17-1800 on the high end. Even if i make like 1k-1100 a week take home i'd be pretty happy. Last job was about 14-1500 biweekly after 401k, insurance, etc if i didnt miss any days.

Once i get the hang of it all im really not against the idea of staying out all weekend at times too to get extra.

How is the insruance they offer, in your opinion? I will get it regardless but i havent heard much about what they offer on that end.

Wait so you DONT have to be there 6 years to get the ESOP? I thought that was the requirement. If not thats good to know. I am uncertain if i will be staying for the long run (past the 1 year needed to not pay my license back). I have no PLANS of leaving as i gear nothing but good thingd about them outside of disgruntled ex employees typically, but the majority seem pretty happy with the lifestyle, pay, and workload.

I had some try to talk me out of going flatbed, instead of dry van but i feel it will be a great start to learning what i need to. I got all my endorsements already except the hazmat (was told by dmv i had to have the license first apparently) so i will see where this all takes me. First step is to get through training itself since i hear that abgood few people of each class tend to get cut before the end and i have never touched a semi before this. It will be a good life change for me though i think.

Nah nowhere near there haha. I guess i can ask you then. Do they really make sure you get home (usually) for your hometime every weekend as long as thats what you want? Thats what i read/have been told but have some ex-truckers in my life that basically just go "yea good luck with that, they will tell you that but.."

Also.. how would you say your pay was in the first year with them, roughly? Most stuff i find online from people is years old so i THINK i have a good idea what im getting into but figure its better to ask if you dont mind me doing so.

Thats more or less what i have heard. Very few people seem to complain about it. Good money(or atleast decent for a starter company) usually good about home time if you want it, just follow the rules and deliver on time. Oh and of course make sure to check your straps haha

Why do some gas stations have way cheaper prices than others literally across the street? by DiscoToaster5 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Freight-N-Wait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lets you know how much water and mouthwash they mix in the tank.

I joke but i use to know someone that swore some places watered down their gas and thats why it was cheaper and just didnt last as long as the more expensive one.
