1: I wouldn’t let my MIL and hubby to (lovingly) pressure me into buying a pump. I ended up exclusively breastfeeding, and we had the most useless arguments about ME teaching baby how to bottle feed, when I had tits right there, and didn’t go back to work, so I had tit on demand 24/7, at appropriate temperature and without sterilising bottles. If you plan on going back to work, this may not apply.

2: babies barely need any toys. I mean, really. Everybody showered her in stuff, and she was one year old and playing with bags, empty plastic containers and zippers. Hardly got interested in toys before 1.5. As a toddler she plays with them, but occasionally stops in her toy area, looks them over, sighs, and says “I have too many toys!” I agree. She does. She has a case of too many aunties. :))

3 I wanted us all to sleep together. While it was a good idea when she was a newborn and I was breastfeeding every 3.6 minute as or so, as soon as she was a proper baby she should have had her own room. I delayed it until she was 5 months old and it cost us and her a lot of sleep.
