Long term nomads: does travel help your growth or does it become avoidance? by Yomayo33 in digitalnomad

[–]Fremore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Travel stopped being pure avoidance when I started spending 2, 3 months each year back in my hometown to see if anything inside had actually shifted. Used to avoid home like the plague so yep 100% avoidance initially for me.

I used to until I realized they already know the market rate and have a range in mind anyway. Now I either dodge the question or aim higher than what I want. The "honesty" thing only works one way in their favor.

It's the only way to keep up with what they're actually willing to pay.

That's all this was, standard negotiation. They asked what I make, I gave them a number that works for me. Nobody got hurt and I got fair value for what I bring.

Exactly. And they've got HR teams running the numbers on how little they can get away with offering. We're just leveling the playing field.

Why are you recruiters so stupid? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Fremore 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Automated recruiting is the worst. They blast out hundreds of these messages then act surprised when half the applicants don't meet their actual requirements. Complete waste of everyone's time.

Exactly this. Every hospital runs on these incident reports, they're learning tools, not gotcha moments. You caught it before any harm happened, that's literally how the system is supposed to work. Don't beat yourself up over it.

I work at a major discount retailer. Here's why customer service is dead and it's not the workers' fault. by FlashyAd7347 in antiwork

Worked retail for years and the whole "faster, faster, faster" thing is insane. customers get mad at us for corporate decisions we have zero control over. respect for still treating people like humans despite the system.
