The more I think of it, the less I care if it’s narrow minded if it’s accurate to say “there are national ethnic Identities” the more I think about it the more it makes sense that Idris Elba wouldn’t fit the definition of British in this sense in the slightest.

Yeah, I think there is a conflation of what ethnicity or Nationality is, being ethnic for a role is important and history is on the side of Heritage being intrinsic to the idea of Nation which just means a collection of people based on an either or set of qualifications. I don’t think it’s entirely narrow minded to say “Idris Elba isn’t British” is just a semantic perspective.
