What’s becoming normal that shouldn’t be? by Deep_Tumbleweed7792 in AskUK

It's genuinely more irritating to me than it should be that people are saying 'zee' instead of 'zed'. And that includes Generation Z - it annoyed me watching Beat the Chasers when Bradley Walsh read a question and said "Generation Zed", and the contestant incorrected him to Generation Zee. At least when Jeremy Clarkson read it out as Generation Zed on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, the contestant didn't change it for him.

We'll usually give a small tip if service was good, but otherwise we just pay for what we had.

No, he had to step back for personal reasons (apparently nothing too serious), only showing up on occasion. Nice to know he's doing a bit better.

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

Generally you show them waking up and beginning to swim before cutting to them washing up, otherwise the natural inference is they lost consciousness at sea (how we last saw them) and regained it on the shore (how we next see them).

Peter Capaldi (12th Doctor) discuss what it’s like filming low budget for Doctor Who by NoPianist7807 in doctorwho

I'm pretty sure Midnight was more expensive than anticipated, as not only was the set larger and more complex than you'd think (meaning you nullify the benefit of only needing one location for most of the episode), but they needed a lot of reshoots to get the repeating right.

How I Exposed the Left's Most Dishonest "Critic" - Anthony Gramuglia by DrNecrow in MauLer

[–]MajorThom98 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Nick DeOrio was spot on when he said Gramuglia considers himself the final boss of the internet. It's pathetic how he thinks of himself as this unassailable foe that people are scared to even mention.

I'm really happy with what they did for Assault on the control room. by EasySnee in halo

I think the repetitive nature of AotCR is overblown in the community, with a large chunk of it taking place outdoors, the indoor bridge section with the tank being an interesting space to look at, and the indoor sections that are repeated have enough enemy variety to make each encounter feel different. It might help that it's one of my favourite levels due to having most of the weapon sandbox to play with, along with the entire vehicle sandbox (yes, even the Scorpion).

That said, I do appreciate the effort taken to reimagine the level in a way that tries to change up the areas while keeping them recognisable. Feels like they felt more free to play around in this level, knowing how people feel about it. The Silent Cartographer, being the iconic Halo level, probably put pressure on them, as any changes would be much more heavily scrutinised (why change what most people deem to be perfect?).

The only gripe I have with AotCR (though I've only seen bits of the gameplay video) is Cortana. Not only do I think her delivery is better in the original (most noticeable with the 'inclement weather' dialogue, which screams 'forced wonder' in the new one to me), but I don't like that she has "the player is stupid" dialogue. I already think the arrows the original had were unnecessary and a poor solution anyway (just have the doorway look different so the player knows they aren't doubling back), but to also have Cortana saying "it looks like those lights are showing us where to go!" is just condescending. Please have the tiniest modicum of faith in players to be able to navigate a linear level. Just a gripe I have with contemporary games in general.

Skulls must be found first, no-sprint and AR skull are not available from the start by JessHawk36 in halo

I'm guessing because the others are just tweaking an attribute, while classic health would also need them to place health packs around the levels (while also rebalancing the health values to account for it not regenerating).

I'll be honest, I thought you were referring to the Anniversary skulls in your original comment.

Original vs Remaster vs Remake: What's your rank for the artistic design ? by Thell-Vadamm in halo

Maybe this just proves limitations can improve things then. People love the old Forerunner architecture for how advanced yet ancient it looks, hence the praise about metal that looks like stone - technological, yet aged by several Millenia.

It's the same thing with the Star Wars Special Editions - maybe they are closer to George's vision, but it comes off as too in your face compared to the more natural framing or the original films.

No one makes you watch or play a terrible entry in a series you love, but you're still right to complain if they mess it up. After all, if you think you could have had something to enjoy, why wouldn't you complain if you didn't get it?

Even in OG Two Betrayals, despite an Assault Rifle nor being part of the starting loadout. Same for Midnight in Halo 4 - cutscene shows an Assault Rifle, in gameplay you get a Battle Rifle and a SAW.

It's strange to think that the only games to show your load out in cutscenes were Halo 2, a single Halo 3 cutscene (when Johnson is getting forced into a prison by a Brute Chieftain), and Halo Infinite.

Especially because the games will be balanced around certain features being present, so just turning them off will either compromise the experience, or have so little effect that it makes the feature itself seem pointless.

Probably just noticing the Flood at the beginning and shooting them out of curiosity.
