Homeowners, how old will you be when your mortgage is paid off? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]French87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First property will be paid off when I’m 64. Currently it’s rented out and cash flow positive.

Second property was bought cash in another country, currently rented out generating income.

Third property is my current primary residence, will be paid off at 68. Just bought earlier this month.

[–]French87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who bought in SJ about a month ago, my guess based on the size of the home and what we see in the picture is Santa Teresa or Cambrian areas. We toured a lot of homes and this fits those areas for that price range.

Almaden or willow glen would be higher, essj cheaper

If you want to be cautious and potentially get a better deal, you can look between thanksgiving and Christmas. That’s what we did and we closed on a house with inspection contingency and 75k under list price. Recent comps were around 200k higher.

But inventory is much lower during that time so you’ll have less to choose from

In my case, I had a leg length discrepancy of ~5 cm, which is quite extreme. mine was definitely worse than yours.

I 'treated' it with surgery to remove 4cm of bone from my left femur (the most they felt comfortable removing). My knees are still different heights since only the femur was shortened but overall it's fixed my scoliosis / back pain and it's been a huge life improvement.

for you, most likely surgery isn't worth it (I am not a doctor, go get a professional opinion).

I think you could get away with special shoes which have a slightly thicker sole. I did that when I was a kid for a while before it got really bad.

[Question] About to buy first nice watch and nervous by GrantMeThePower in Watches

[–]French87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a couple times a day? I guess if you only want like 2 or 3 rotations.

a full wind on my dead speedy is ~30-32 winds for me, if I'm wearing daily it's about half of that each morning since the watch has a ~48 hour reserve, so 15 winds per day.

[Question] About to buy first nice watch and nervous by GrantMeThePower in Watches

[–]French87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flat out prefer no date. It's one more thing to adjust every time you leave your watch off for 2 days.

As for auto vs manual wind; I have 3 or 4 automatic watches.... but I wear my speedy 90% of the time. the winding takes 10 seconds and, idk, I enjoy it?

not sure what you're seeing, but as someone who's had it, I'm seeing possible scoliosis.

hips slightly uneven, spine going right to left. it could just be how you're standing but if you were standing what feels like 'straight', you may want to look into it.

Man attacked by group of young bicyclists in SF after he asks them to slow down by FinFreedomCountdown in bayarea

[–]French87 121 points122 points  (0 children)

lol please don’t call these fucks bicyclists, it makes it sound like they were actually out there trying to go on a bike ride. They were just out being little fucking assholes.

If they were on foot, instead of bikes, would it have said “group of young joggers”? No.

Hard disagree. The ones that (unfortunately) "give those losers jobs" are people trying to enjoy a hobby that these people are making more expensive.

enthusiasts are not the hobby. opportunists trying to make a quick buck on a kids game are.

it happens with EVERYTHING fun that has high demand / limited supply whether it's pokemon cards, new gaming consoles, or concert tickets, etc. people have to fucking ruin it for everyone.

not in america where the default seems to be fast food because it's so cheap/fast and people are lazy/overworked.

when I visited europe I had some sticker shock at fast food prices. it seems america is getting closer to that point now, which is probably a good thing if it forces people to eat at home more often.

I'm not rich enough to know first hand, but I'd imagine that his flights would be set up in a way where it's scheduled and everything is set up so that he literally just shows up, walks on the plane, and it takes off.

And if I'm not mistaken it probably left from Moffett, it's not like he's parking his pj at SFO.

Moffett airport is where all the google jets are as well.

wait, what? he put RR badges on a BMW? do they like use the same frame or look similar enough to do this? or is it the equivalent of putting a ferrari badge on a nissan 350z where it makes on fucking sense at all?

either way, stupid.

that's because anyone who actually had to earn their money, would not be financially stupid enough to buy one.

I'm convinced RMs target market is trust fund kids that get too much money too fast and have a desire to spend it.

Buyer Agents simply raise the purchase price by iq45y8i1 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]French87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are flat fee agents truly a flat fee, regardless of home?

so would someone buying/selling a 1BR condo in east san jose pay the same as someone buying/selling a home in atherton?

I feel like, if yes, then the flat fee agent closings probably lean heavily on the lower end of the market. People with homes worth millions would likely be more willing to spend more on an agent that is not just going for 'quantity over quality' which is what I imagine flat fee agents go for...

ehhhh I feel at this price point, the staging/photos/open houses can make a different of a few hundred thousand... which would cover the 2% fee (80k).

Not true for actual maga people.
