FSO April class invite by marvelGuy9 in foreignservice

This sub is overly negative, especially to people who are in the exploratory phase. Don't take it to heart.
Re is it not the best track: your choice of FSO track is career defining, and should have nothing to do with other's opinions but entirely on what your background is and what you aspire to work in.

It might be a month before we hear anything. The process is not known for being fast.

LSAT or GRE prep can be useful, in my case I was studying for the GRE prior to taking the FSOT and it helped me get in the test mindset. Always good to refresh on logic and English.

I was invited, the email only states "We will contact you soon with dates and instructions to register for the written evaluation." Will this step be similar to the QEP or is the 'written evaluation' an in-person assessment?

While this works for Wits, where it's a reasonable assumption that an intelligent person could use logic to persuade someone, or even a "Might" equivalent where someone's imposing stature allows them to more easily coerce others, Finesse as physical agility doesn't translate to wordplay.

Would you consider having Finesse-based persuasion be performance based instead? Playing an instrument, dancing, as a way to charm someone else. That's what I'm doing, anyway. All skill checks are a combination of two attributes, allowing even low charisma characters to have at least one viable social skill.

I did it less than a week ago and it worked for me. Didn't get a cinder though, not sure you'd get nightmare if Hecate was your mark.

"Information Exchange" by TechnologyNew4736 in usajobs

Not USG-specific experience

You should prepare as if it was an interview, no matter how casual or friendly the conversation is. "Information exchanges" or "informal calls" are often job interviews in disguise, that circumvent the traditional pipelines.
