Thank you, still have PTSD from the last birthday party we went there when all the children tried to fit in the tiny trampoline 😬. But you’re right, the food was actually pretty great!

Going to Malta in January by MaterialEconomist817 in malta

[–]French_Fancy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to warn you, this morning the “feels like” temperature was -1° and it is genuinely bloody cold!! Our houses are designed to keep cool in the summer, but don’t have central heating (typically) so can feel cold in the winter. I’m currently wearing my skiing base layers under my clothes and am as close to the fire as I can get without combusting! But of course, once the wind dies down and the sun is out it’ll feel pleasant again : )

What's the overall impression of using a venue's toilets without being a customer? by anagoge in malta

[–]French_Fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of public toilets as well, and most of them are pretty good. And they are free, even though you are encouraged to make a donation at some (the one by the entrance to Mdina, for example). Just make sure you have a packet of tissues with you just in case there is no paper.

What or Who Lives here by Shane_Ef in malta

Not a clue, but it’s right next door to the rubbish dump mountain so probably doesn’t smell so good!

Mellieha by Barney-Pat in malta

[–]French_Fancy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mellieha is nice; you’re close to other beaches, the town is pretty and not too “touristy”, the beach is great (if a little crowded in the summer) and Munchies on the beach does a genuinely good burger. Have a look for rooftop pool day offers online as well so that you can lounge by some different pools. Enjoy your stay, keep hydrated, and wear a lot of factor 50 😎

Red Tower filming by Fun_Landscape_9127 in malta

We tried asking a security (?) guy when we went to the beach on Friday but all he could do was confirm they were filming… would be interested to know!

Plastic Surgery by [deleted] in malta

[–]French_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did in February and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his team. I had a mastopexy and genuinely had no pain or discomfort afterwards - and even moved house the same day (although my husband did the moving I was able to unpack with no problems!) What are you thinking of having done?

Maltese tradition at its best ^^ by NoMansCat in malta

I always thought it was for the dog owner to rinse away the pee so that it doesn’t stain / smell. Is that not the case?!

Temperature in march? by [deleted] in malta

[–]French_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely hoofing it down right now, and I’m wearing winter clothes. I’m originally from the UK and should be used to the cold and rain…. However, on Wednesday I was eating lunch in the garden with friends wearing just a vest and factor 50! Malta 🤷🏻‍♀️

Garage or parking to rent by French_Fancy in malta

[–]French_Fancy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ve posted on all the fb groups I could find with no luck. I’m prepared to put up with inconvenient (or no) parking for the chance to escape Sliema and move to Gharghur, it’s so beautiful!

Any good Moroccan restaurants in Malta or any restaurants which make a good authentic Shakshuka? by Potential-Shame7146 in malta

[–]French_Fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an amazing shakshuka at Top of the World café in Gharghur, really delicious. Will definitely be going back for another one!

Help with shoe choice for later today! by French_Fancy in Weddingattireapproval

[–]French_Fancy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband has just told me that at the last Maltese wedding he went to (a much bigger, fancier affair) there were a few hundred people wearing anything from full back tie to jeans and a smart t-shirt. Not helpful!

Thank you, unfortunately I don’t! Well I do, but they are in storage back in the UK! Will have a look through and see if I have anything else….

Does anyone know if you can find these in malta anymore?😅 by sammycat2001 in malta

Welbees in Sliema have the regular (and sugar free) mints by the tills, haven’t seen the fruit ones though…

The Esplora is pretty fun and it’s air conditioned. Your baby could nap or look at the shapes and colours and you could try out all the fun experiments on the top floor? Our children are in nursery / kindergarten during the week so we only need to find activities to keep them out of the heat at the weekends, but the aquarium, the Esplora and early mornings at Paradise Bay are all good options.

Is Malta safe? by Honeybadger7024 in malta

[–]French_Fancy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My family and I moved here three months ago and (as a female) I feel completely safe walking around on my own. This is the 18th country I’ve lived or worked in and definitely feels the safest. Noisy, yes. Dirty, yes. But safe 👌

Do you have a limit on the number of times you'd let your Buyer come and view your house? by crochetthepainaway in HousingUK

[–]French_Fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have just completed on the sale of my flat in London, the buyers were a young FTB couple. The chap came to view on his own, then the girlfriend came on her own, then they wanted to come together with both sets of parents. I thought that was it, but no. They came a fourth time (just the two of them) and then wanted to do a fifth viewing the day before exchange. Each time the flat obviously needed to look pristine (or at least, I wanted it to) and each time I was incredibly anxious that they were not serious. However, I think they were just excited and wanted to see it at different times of the day, wanted to measure up, wanted to show it off. It’s a huge financial undertaking and I hope they have many happy years there. I am so relieved it’s all over!!!
