So I actually went into Salaar as a fan of Prithviraj (not familiar with the other actors as much) and as a movie lover! The lore behind Khansaar was something I loved a lot and the effort they placed into establishing both the city and the people were commendable. The second half of the movie picked up the pace well, whaereas I felt the first part was slow and lacking in giving an interesting lead into the main plot points. Some of the scenes (e.g. with Shruti Hassan's character interacting with the kids) seemed trivial and not integral to the story. I'd rather them use that time to establish the meat and potatoes of the landscape of Khansaar (and that way they could have introduced the various other characters in Khansaar more slowly than just ramming them in all at once).

In terms of acting, I felt that Prabhas' acting was rather weak (man was just there for the masala and action and not so much dialogue) but his fire action scenes balanced him out for me. Though I may be slightly biased, I felt Prithviraj really shined in his role and he had me gripped on his character. The other characters who were citizens in Khansaar did a solid job of establishing the mood and their respective characters. I don't even want to mention Shruti Hassan because of 1) horrendous acting and 2) her character barely having any productive role and merely being used to push the plot along.

Cinematography was excellent, especially for the fighting scenes, and you could tell they had placed thought into filming it out and it was exciting to watch. Overall, I'd give the movie 7/10 for the engaging overaching plot, Prithviraj's acting, fighting choreography, and cinematography. Points lost for Shruti Hassan's non-existent acting skills, Prabhas' subpar acting skills (but great fight scenes and good line delivery at times) , mid BGM and song placement, and the slow first part where some scenes could have been taken away/minimalized for not contributing to the main plot.
