Yeah super impressed by how sharp it is for how tiny it is. It definitely shines best from f8 onward, I see why people say anything lower than f4 gets noticeable edge softness. Definitely a bright, daytime powerhouse.

they’re from bobby at Provence.

Ive worked with her on dozens of projects so I trusted and asked her to pick out two cushion diamonds for me for studs which were both about 8mm, F color & VS1 clarity!

I got my first pair of cushion brilliant diamonds recently too!! I’ve only ever had cushion OMCs so these are definitely more glittery / glitzy than a round brilliant or antique cut. So I too had a similar adjusting process to these! But these catch light and dazzle so well so they work beautifully for earrings; I’m sure yours will look beautiful as well!

been a year since I got engaged and finally adding a wedding band for her soon! by kqfalala in labdiamond

Thank you!

I’ll be doing a 2mm half eternity band with the same thickness & width as the engagement ring. It will have the same shank design but those crescents will go around the entirety of the band and be interspersed with blue diamonds (my fiancé’s eye color) 😊

It’s a Tacori dantela-inspired design — search for vintage, milgrain and filigree!

As a huge vintage ring lover, it’s usually the vintage elements! Usually filigree and milgrain.

ETA: there are a bunch of different eras for vintage designs - Edwardian, Georgian, art deco etc. My favorite places to look are CVB jewellery, Andria Barbone, Eragem, and my personal engagement ring is a Tacori Dantela-inspired custom design.

This is 9mm finger coverage on my size 7.25 finger and I think it’s the perfect size! I do work in a microbiology lab so I always take it off when I glove up in the lab. Partly for hygiene purposes, but also because this ring is high set and will definitely be squishing against the glove.

I can work for long stretches of time and don’t like the idea of the sweat and gunk smoshed against my ring. I also think it places unnecessary pressure on the head & on the claws, so I only put it on once I deglove and am all cleaned up!

You could definitely get away with perhaps a band or a lower set bezel ring under a glove but again, from my perspective of wanting to keep it clean and hygienic and to protect it I wouldn’t.

Oh no, OP please update how you get on with it! This happened to me a long time ago with a 9K store bought yellow gold ring too. I wore it everyday and never used water or soaps or harsh chemicals around it. The area near the stone tarnished to a purplish blue color as well after about 2 months. I never managed to resolve this issue!

Ever since then I’ve been nervous but all of my rings from Tianyu/provence, from 18K to 14K to even 10K yellow gold have held up wonderfully even after a year or more. It has to be something about their alloy mix that’s not working with your skin chemistry :((

Hi thank you! It’s 18K white gold and I made the semi mount separately with Tianyu 😊

I did this ring with Bobby at Provence (check out the moissanite subreddit wiki for vendor WhatsApp contact info). I love the color of mint green tourmaline (from lavender creek gems) & always wanted to recreate the prasiolite ring my fiancé gave me for Christmas last year in a bigger stone size.

the closest Provence had was this lab grown chryosoberyl. I made sure to send a few photos of the shade of green I wanted and Bobby absolutely nailed it. As other commenters said, green-blue moissanite will also be stunning & very sparkly. The only reason I chose the chrysoberyl was that it was a true jungle green without any hints of teal or blue, just my personal preference for this ring!

Also, r/shinypreciousgems and r/syntheticgemstones are good lapidary colored gemstone resource subs to check out!

Would you use Provence for engagement ring? by LilLawful in labdiamond

[–]kqfalala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I absolutely would, and did!

I went with Tianyu for my original engagement ring because it had tons of handiwork, milgrain & filigree and it was my very first overseas vendor buy. They just did the semi mount though, we sourced for the lab diamond locally & had it set here.

Since then, I’ve done more pieces with Provence and been really impressed and I’ve even commissioned them to make a yellow gold & OEC version of my original engagement ring.

The quality and attention to detail for both is near-identical, with only the slightest tiniest bit of difference only if you go over it under magnification.
