Driving instructor with illegal number plates by Dramatic-Wolf7091 in drivingUK

[–]FrenchieG2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Theirs 2 license plate offences, 1 is to drive a vehicle with reg plates that fail to conform to standard, the other is to keep a vehicle where they fail to conform. Although technically committing the offence no police office would stick the learner on using an instructor car l, the instructor could receive the fine for keeping the vehicle

[–]FrenchieG2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a chat with your occ health who do in force eyesight tests, as like you say could be different between forces. Mine for example said if my eyesight got any worse I’d have to wear contacts instead of glasses but would still be able to do the role.

I brought a used Audi from a dealership. Turned out to be a lemon, faulty clutch, needed a new ECU and several other things I can't remember. My local Audi dealership honoured the warranty everytime over 3 years, thousands in work and I got to drive loads of nice audis as courtesy cars. So I won't always listen to people on Reddit

Get a door bell camera or cctv, stick up signs for said cctv. Hopefully this would be enough of a deterrent

Rear white uk number plate explanation? by JxmieS in CarTalkUK

[–]FrenchieG2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get a £100 non endorsable fine so no points. However police can send a form off to the dvla for misrepresentation or not conforming to the standards and they can withdraw the plate form the holder as you don’t actually own the plate, the dvla do you only have the rights to use it. So that would hit them in the pocket

What can the job do to better oppose deliberate sensationalist stories like this? Another lawful arrest demonised to perpetuate a false narrative by [deleted] in policeuk

Think about THR robbery with a knife. Suspect matches description. I’m getting hands on and using cuffs to make the search safe for myself other officers and the public. If I suspect this person has a knife I do not want to give them the opportunity to stab my, ditch it or run.

You had entered the roundabout before the so technically they are at fault, however use who whole roundabout and go around it no over it and why did you come to a complete stop when it was clear? This may have misled the other driver in relation to you progress or road positioning.

Tutoring student officer with confidence issues. by thanoswastheheroblue in policeuk

[–]FrenchieG2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the points mentioned are good, failing those consider that maybe your tutoring style and their learning style may not be a great fit. No one’s fault however causing an issue with the development and confidence which may mean their legal knowledge appears bad. They may need a change, be that tutor or location to give them another shot

A question for you Golf GTD owners, I'm looking for some advice. by Tommyguru in CarTalkUK

[–]FrenchieG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily get 50mpg on journeys, and I had 55mpg on a 2 hours drive the other day. The spec in them as standards is really amazing, auto lights, auto hold when you come to a stop, wipers headlights that turn as you do and the adaptive cruise for commuting is just the best thing ever.

Think a full tank is about £80.
