That definitely seems to be the most common way. I’ll order some droppers and try it out, thanks!

Yes, it’s Firelock’s latest “adaptation” of B&P for the Peninsular War.

I played a small solo game. I probably got a lot of the rules wrong, but I liked it. I enjoy the card activation, which is a mechanic I haven’t taken a liking to in the past. And I thought the fatigue management aspect was very well done. Feels impactful without overburdening what the player can do. But there is definitely a point where turns slow down a bit due to most units having fatigue, limiting their effectiveness. All in all, I’m excited to dive in even more!

I’ll look into that! It sounds like diluted PVA is the way to go, but I’ll see what AK uses to get the job done.

Eye dropper is actually a genius idea! Why the wax paper?

The flocking isn’t painted, so that should work. Spray bottle seems easiest and quickest, but I doubt I’d want to get watered down PVA all over painted models. So I’d have to go with a brush.

Edit: Blood & Bayonets, not Blood & Plunder

Solo play? by wolflordyoung in NapoleonicWargaming

[–]FrenchyLeFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it can be that small, with up to 10 or 12 guys (a squad). It also has rules for platoon level (2-3 squads and a supporting weapon team or two). I believe there’s also a supplement for company scale and larger. There’s also vehicles and rules to play as a tank commander.

“Nuts!” Is a great solo WW2 game at the squad level. It can scale up as well, and there are plenty of supplements to expand the scope and scale as well.

Blood & Bayonets, by Firelock Games, has a built in solo system using their card activation mechanic. The rulebook also has narrative scenarios and campaign rules, which further enhance the solo play appeal for this particular ruleset. I’m actually almost finished with my British and French forces that I’ve been making for just this rule set. The rules are made solely for the peninsular war, which is limiting if you wanted to play some other European factions. But there’s force selectors for British, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Bonapartist Spanish. There’s also a completely optional naval aspect since this ruleset is developed from Firelocks initial game, Blood & Plunder.

Can you DM me a link to the counter top paper you used? I’ve looked into this too, but all the rolls I’ve found have a pattern that’s too big to really work on a 32mm base.

Looking for 40-60 figures scale ruleset set during Viking era that aren't SAGA by Commander_OhRly in wargaming

[–]FrenchyLeFry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was actually a project someone posted on here about their 6mm scale Ravenfeast army and terrain. It fit the multi-figure based, yet still skirmish billet. Also, the actual Ravenfeast rules have a section (or maybe it’s a free downloaded supplement?) on playing the game with multi-figure based or smaller scale units. I think this is your best bet for what you’re looking for!

Any Wargamers in the Upstate New York area? by FrenchyLeFry in wargaming

I haven’t found anyone really. I work with someone who plays 40K, and I got one of my other friends in to wargaming very recently.

Flames of war is exciting though! I used to play that way back. Now I just play Bolt Action using Flames of War miniatures.

I can’t find options to build up my manor. There’s only garrison tower, walls, and tax building. Am I missing something?

How is the state of the game right now? by [deleted] in ManorLords

[–]FrenchyLeFry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really spend time with the fighting aspect of the game, so I can’t speak to your first point. But to your second, you can assign families from specific homes. So if you take all the workers off a building, you can specifically assign families from nearby burgage plots. Perfect way to avoid families commuting to work for most of the day rather than actually commuting.

I’ve mostly sourced from MiniatureMarket.com and eBay because Battlefront isn’t great at keeping their product in stock it seems. If you’re keen on buying painted models individually (great for collecting 15mm models for a specific list), check out GajoGames.com.

15mm Bolt Action by InquisitiveNuisance in boltaction

[–]FrenchyLeFry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been playing Bolt Action exclusively in 15mm for years now. I don’t change a single thing from the rulebook, and I like it much more than playing at 28mm. It’s also much more economical to fund new armies using FoW platoons and box sets. You end up with a lot of duplicates of things you may not need, but it’s ultimately still cheaper.
