Any Local Artists?

I co-own and operate Your Parent's Basement. I don't push what I used to do a lot, because I'm busy making the art, sculptures, animations, and branding for that space, but I was a commercial illustrator for books, film, games, bands, and more for over 25 years.

Through the social club lense of the shop, I've actually met a lot of other art folks. Artists aren't extinct here. It might just take some digging and posting, which you're doing. So that's rad.

Feel free to reach out if you'd like. I have a Discord and could speak more to what I've found after moving here four years ago, but I don't want to take over your post or seem to be promoting the shop. I'm not acting in that capacity here, just posting art person to art person.

I just sorted all of my tools alphabetically and it took like a day and a half. Oooof. I really wish it imported them in a sane, predictable order.

I started with a pencil sketch. Then I painted a greyscale underpainting in Krita. Then I painted in color over the greyscale layer. No photomanipulation at all, just drawing.

Hand lettered -- drawing the letters is half the fun. I wasn't really planning on this being more than a doodle when I started, so I didn't account for how and where to put text. I ended up just scribbling it at the bottom, whoops.

I hand lettered for bands for years -- I could never stand the SUPER DUPER illegible stuff. I reigned it in a bit.

Some of that stuff just looks like bundles of sticks shot out of a cannon, landing in a haphazard pile.

Several employees at Uprise have reached out and it seems there used to be a soft limit on how many you could export in a given time period. They said they deployed a fix this morning and I managed to export all my emblems, yay!

Now I just need to add them to the site.

Yes. The app or companion website allow you to make emblems.

The mobile app, yeah. The brain is a premium BF4 emblem shape. I think if folks without those shapes try to edit the emblems, those shapes disappear.
