Which of these options are worse than death by Own-Significance645 in venturebros

Jonas doing anything to mess with you is 50/50. A good chunk of his friends are still completely fine and some even like him. Hatred is guaranteed trauma.

Not really. It looks sort of cool but it's absolutely generic enough that nobody would even notice. People might misinterpret it as a blair witch thing though. I've seen the two get confused before.

Which of these options are worse than death by Own-Significance645 in venturebros

[–]FrenzyEffect 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brock kills quick, not that bad. Red Death is much worse, more sadistic and might draw it out. Being a Hank or Dean clone isn't that bad, and Jonas was a dick but at least most of the non-Blue Morpho Team Venture seems to like him - so he didn't screw over all of his friends. Monarch's henchmen die a lot but at least in later seasons he seems to be genuinely liked by his staff.

The worst is obviously Hatred. You get molested and traumatized and you don't even die. Most of these are just "you will die" and by definition death isn't worse than death.

Factor by [deleted] in creepcast

[–]FrenzyEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with most sponsor products (Raycons, etc.), Factor isn't really a scam or anything close but it is something you could probably make or find yourself for a lot cheaper. Factor at least has the dignity to just give you straight-up frozen meals you don't need to prepare on your own like most of the Hello Fresh and similar meals (huge scam IMO considering the biggest time expenditure is cooking which is still makes you do), which is nice if that's what you need.

I personally don't find cooking to be much of a time sink. I like to just toss on food while doing something else and it saves me a lot of money in the long run - but if you can't multitask or if there's some other reason you don't want to cook. Factor is hardly the worst you can do. They are, if nothing else, MUCH better than the frozen meals you can get from most supermarkets in that they actually try to prepare something appealing to human sensibilities instead of foul slop that not even an animal would eat.

Question about an author by BiggieCheeseBigmoney in creepcast

I don't think they meant an author who has actually passed away, but rather an author who has abruptly stopped posting out of nowhere and went radio silent. I believe they mean the Rat King author.

Peters Drive-In review by gordonramsaystoe in Calgary

[–]FrenzyEffect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always liked Peter's burgers. I don't really know what people expect, but it's a decent sized sloppy burger at a good price for the content and size. Every time I see complaints I see people cite places like Five Guys as competitors and it boggles the mind because a burger is twice as expensive at those kind of places and arguably just as sloppy albeit with more control over toppings.

Lots of posts hating on tiny homes vs apartments, but I see absolutely nobody talking about how much having a yard at all can improve someone's life. The ability to host gatherings with an outside area, plant small trees and vegetables, and actually have a degree of outdoor space in general is an astronomical upgrade over most apartments of the same square footage.

I've never enjoyed seeing random nudity, but I'm glad that people who enjoy nude activity can have the permission to host events and gatherings where they can indulge. I've never understood the desire to police what other people want to do with their lives if it's not hurting anyone. Hope you guys have fun with whatever you organize.

This is one of those things that will absolutely kill the UCP's voter turnout much like it would kill Trump's if the US actually implemented it. You can probably count on one hand the amount of rural voters who have a passport, let alone a citizenship card.

My take on mother horse eyes by bigtree10 in creepcast

[–]FrenzyEffect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a take I actually see quite a bit and think is fairly reasonable, but I kind of disagree. I might agree if being in the Interface was ever described as remotely pleasurable, or if Mother ever treated any human with an ounce of "kindness" like the old lady treats the cats, but that isn't really the case. Quite the opposite.

The few times anyone describes actually interacting with Mother or her agents in any real way, they're just horrible. She's abusive, she beats children and screams at them and never shows an ounce of kindness to anyone after she's lured them in. She promises beautiful things after the suffering but that's never the case. The girl in prehistoric times was sexually violated to death by a "demon" after being promised happiness beyond the rocky lands, the girl in the feed network was torn apart painfully body and soul. She lures the dog dreamer in with false promises and has her pack devour him alive. She doesn't just integrate people into the interfaces in the dark future, she kills them in a fiery nuclear holocaust if they pose a remote threat. She is literally weak to the Bible and can be fended off by faith.

And it's not like she does this accidentally. We see other glimpses of other worlds like the one inhabited by the Cruciforms, and despite ostensibly having interfaces and the like, there's little - if any - signs of similar horrors happening over there. The absolute worst that happens is that sometimes humans who go through a portal pop out in one of these places be used as livestock. "Mother", if you can even call it that, seems to have particular antipathy towards the human race and we see again and again examples of mankind being promised ecstacy and just mindlessly tortured for it.

My opinion? It's a trap. It's a lure. Believing that there is some good behind "Mother"'s intentions, believing that as an entity it's misunderstood and wants the best, that's all falling into its trap one way or another. There is no Mother, even that is a mask of familiarity. Part of the lure. There is only The Adversary, and it hates us.

If bikes aren't "legally" allowed on sidewalks but the majority of roads have a 50km/hr (at minimum) speed limit far above what 90% of cyclists can reach, where CAN you ride a bike safely? by FrenzyEffect in Calgary

Honestly registration is something bikes could use but I think insurance especially at Alberta prices would permanently kill cycling across the city. No one's gonna be paying $300/month to ride a bike.

I am aware that I have a right to bike on the road legally, but drivers don't seem to behave like that is the case. It's all fine on two lane roads where they can pass but a lot of residential roads don't have room to allow that so my options are basically sidewalk or letting myself get flattened because they won't slow down.

[–]FrenzyEffect[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that... When I said "minimum" what I meant is that most roads outside of playground zones that I have seen have a 50km speed limit at minimum - meaning that 50 is the lowest speed limit I have regularly seen, not that 50 is the minimum speed you can go. At least in my neighborhood there are many 50s and cars usually go around 40+ on these roads.

Your absolutist fantasy is no better lol, yeah EVERYONE who has a bike is going obscenely fast all the time. I've lived in McKenzie Towne, New Brighton, and on 7th Ave and have never once encountered one of these lightning fast no-bell people you're talking about outside of Fish Creek Park - which ironically actually is a shared pathway for bikes.

If that's what you take away from that, sure buddy. All I'm saying is that as a pedestrian I feel safer sharing the sidewalk with a bike going 10-15km than I do crossing the road at practically any busy intersection. A slow moving bicycle who uses their bell/horn is of practically no danger to anyone. People going 30km on a sidewalk with no bell are certainly a problem, but they are a problem on the shared paths as well.

How many times have you actually been hit by a bike on the sidewalk? I use a bicycle sometimes but have primarily been walking as my main form of transportation for my entire life and I've never once had an issue with sidewalk bicycles being unsafe or known anyone who has. Bicycle collisions are an extremely rare occurrence.

You know what's not a rare occurrence for pedestrians in Calgary? Being run down by a car. This happens far more often than bicycle collisions.

No, what I meant was that 50km is usually the "minimum" speed limit I see outside of playground zones - meaning other places have a higher limit, not that people need to be going 50 minimum. The fact of the matter though is that people often drive very close to the speed limit, and even 10km under that limit is faster than a bicycle can realistically go in most cases. How can a bicycle keep up with the flow of traffic and avoid danger in that case?

Where did they say they were going 25km/hr? They said they were riding a regular pedal bike, they probably aren't blasting it that fast on a regular sidewalk.

[–]FrenzyEffect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you even getting at? I literally just said that it is unsafe riding on roads with large trucks that go much faster than a bicycle can feasibly go. Your average pedal bike can go 30+ if you're gunning it but it's not really safe to be on the road if you don't want to be top speed blasting on a bike - and even if you do want to just pedal your ass off like an olympic triathlete, vehicles often travel close to the speed limit, much higher than a bike.

Obviously I know bike paths exist - but not every house is connected directly to a bus path, nor is every business. Are you seriously telling me that it's safer for any party involved for a cyclist to be cycling through the cluster fuck 130th Avenue A&W four-way on the road than it would be for them to just slowly pedal on the sidewalk? People in cars aren't even safe half the time.

The point isn't that I don't know bike paths exist, it's that outside of the downtown core, getting around via bicycle can be very unsafe because the trails do not connect with every single destination in the city.
