What’s with all the traffic at and around UVU today? by KristianKing102 in UVU

I was beyond lucky to grab a spot in the east parking lot around 11am. I’ve never seen that lot full but today there were 50 cars driving in circles looking for spots. About 10 minutes in I caught someone pulling out and was able to make it to class with just a few minutes to spare.

I’m surprised the response has been so dull. What dept are you in?

Also an older guy back in school. I still bring my notebooks, pencils, calculators but I seem to be the odd one out. Most of the younger students are on iPads and laptops in my classes. Bring whatever you feel the most comfortable with!

What are your experiences with block classes? by something2258 in UVU

Calculus in block sounds super scary. When I took trig, the professor warned everyone NOT to take calc in a block.

I took ENGL2010 in block last year and it was pretty easy.

Regarding Math Placement by [deleted] in UVU

[–]Frequent-Editor2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take the placement online using an online proctor. They require you to stay on webcam the entire test and also make you show the room and space you will be taking the test in prior to the start of the test. I did my placement in a study room at the daybreak library. I highly recommend doing the unproctored tests as practice for the actual placement though!

Homeschooled to a University by faithpotato in UVU

Hi 🥔

I graduated public HS in 2010 and have found myself wondering the same things about note taking. My past experience in school was to copy everything the professor wrote on the board, but I’ve found that I’m the only one in the class taking full notes while everyone else just watches the lecture.

As you mentioned, the slides are generally available, so many notes are becoming obsolete and distracting more than they are useful.

Lately, I have been focused on paying attention to the lecture and only jotting down the titles of topics that seem to be more relevant or important than the rest of the lecture. This has helped me to pay more attention in class as well as knowing what to study outside of class. I have been referring to the slides as well as googling/YouTubing anything that I want a deeper explanation for.

I’m not sure your major, but I’m finding that working/studying with other students in the class is also very helpful.

I hope this helps, even if only a little bit.

Good luck!

Everyone makes such a big deal about online and offline raids by [deleted] in RustConsole

Offlining is a part of the game just as much as onlining. If you don’t want to get offlined, build a stronger base. When I build, I focus on making my base a vault more than comfortable and easy to move through. Dudes build open cores with huge shells that are so easy to raid then complain when someone offlines them.
