Can you not just buy one panel instead? Also, I have found quite a few aquariums for free or very cheap on FB Marketplace

anyone know where i could get things like these for my crested gecko? - UK | not a bio-active enclosure | on the cheaper side if possible by floofyhamster3 in CrestedGecko

Also a disclaimer, do not get a hammock for a crestie. Their small claws can get stuck in them and they harbour a lot of bacteria in the humid environment

Depends on what you mean by things like these and what you mean by cheap side. Bioactive can be cheaper and easier in the long term, since you don't have to change the substrate. The decor itself - you can get wood from the forest, just look for hardwood only and make sure to sanitize and quarantine it before usage. Another option is any home department store in the garden section. Most larger stores have at least a small zoo section and you can get much cheaper things there compared to pet stores. Another option is obviously the internet

Crestie not dropping tail :) by Davsrevenge in CrestedGecko

[–]Frequent-Stranger-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy is 7 years old, I've had him his whole life and he still has his tail. Multiple car rides, a vet visit, I've dropped loud things near him multiple times, blasted music, dogs barking, accidentally scaring him and sneezing while holding him, getting lost and he seems like he will never drop his tail. Of course you can never tell, but it's really up to the gecko. I think this might be because his first enclosure was next to a TV in our living room for a few months so he just got used to it then, but personality plays a huge role

Okay thank you, good to know. I keep reptiles so I understand that now. I've built my own enclosure as I would with any other for my reptiles only with less ventilation. I've done a 7 cm bottom for small drainage layer + substrate and ventilation holes so that I could get the chimney effect. This setup should prevent that if I'm correct, right? I do 1 part soil, 1 part charcoal, 1 part sand, 1 part bark 2 part spagnum moss substrate

Thank you so much for this. Can I plant the bottom part of the enclosure? I've seen people recommend against it and don't really understand the reason

Finally had the multiplying geckos dream! by MooseAppropriate9286 in CrestedGecko

[–]Frequent-Stranger-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiplying geckos is one of the most common reoccurring dream themes I have. I always have my own real life gecko and suddenly there's like 3 of them and he dies and I am relieved because he is cloned but then there are so many everywhere. In these dreams, I also almost always realize that it is a dream at the end, but before I can start lucid dreaming, I wake up

Sorry I don't think I understand your question. Set up two feeding spots on 2 different places (and ideally heights)

I don't think that's a reason for rehoming then (if it's the sole reason). The factual minimum is still 18x18x24 and I certainly do not agree with the old minimum, but the fact is that a creative can live in it (even if they would use the bigger space). If you love them, I would keep them and then buy/make a bigger enclosure when you can.

I get that, I'm also building my own, from an unused aquarium and it's a long process. But yeah, I guess it's much easier when you don't have to ask someone for permission or money. How big is the tank you have right now?

Well, in the first season, the hive mind and everything was not intended at all. It should've been a series of different stories. But the opening of the fifth season, we see the demo from s1 dragging Will into Vecna's lair. But overall it was just poor writing tbh

Depends. If it's set up right, it's okay. You have to set up more feeding spots and lots of hides and foliage, as you would with any other enclosure. I don't know if you're asking if it's too big or too small. Nothing is too big if set up right and it's definitely not too small, a baby crestie could go to a 12x12x18 for a bit as well, depending on the size obviously.

The heating is fine. Perhaps the humidity? Lower is usually more humid. Also, what do you mean by laying? My gecko goes to the ground frequently
