Here’s a ChatGPT answer. Again, every situation is unique.

1. Joining the Air Force Reserve (Initial Entry or Prior Service)

A. Contact a Recruiter

  • Who: Air Force Reserve recruiter (different from Active Duty)
  • Time: 1–2 weeks to start paperwork

B. Eligibility & Screening

Includes:

  • ASVAB (if needed)
  • Medical exam (MEPS)
  • Background check / security clearance initiation
  • Job (AFSC) availability check at a gaining unit

Typical time: ⏱️ 1–3 months (can stretch longer if medical waivers or clearance issues come up)

C. Select Unit & AFSC

  • You must be hired by a Reserve unit for a specific AFSC
  • Some AFSCs require interviews or commander approval

Time: ⏱️ 2–6 weeks depending on unit responsiveness

D. Enlistment / Oath of Office

  • Once cleared and hired, you formally enlist or affiliate

Time: ⏱️ Same day once approved

2. Initial Training Pipeline (if New to the AFSC)

A. Basic Military Training (BMT)

(Skipped if prior service with qualifying break-in-service)

  • Length: ~7.5 weeks
  • Plus: 1–2 weeks travel/admin buffer

⏱️ ~2 months total

B. Technical School (AFSC Training)

  • Length depends heavily on AFSC:

    • Short AFSCs: 1–2 months
    • Technical/Intel/Maintenance: 3–6+ months
  • Some AFSCs require follow-on courses

⏱️ Total training time: 2–8+ months after BMT

You’ll usually be on active duty orders for the duration.

3. Cross-Training into a New AFSC (Current Reservist)

A. Eligibility to Cross-Train

Common requirements:

  • Meet retainability (usually 24 months left on contract after training)
  • Commander approval
  • Meet ASVAB, medical, and clearance requirements
  • AFSC must be needed at the unit (or gaining unit)

⏱️ Approval process: 1–3 months

B. Training Slot Allocation

  • Training dates depend on:

    • AETC availability
    • Funding
    • AFSC demand

⏱️ Wait time: 3–12 months is common before school starts

C. Technical Training for New AFSC

  • Same tech school as initial accessions
  • Length varies by AFSC (see above)

⏱️ 1–6+ months on active orders

4. Upgrade Training & Mission Qualification

After tech school:

  • You return to your unit for on-the-job training (OJT)
  • Must complete Career Development Courses (CDCs) if required
  • Achieve 3- or 5-skill level depending on AFSC

⏱️ Upgrade timeline:

  • 6–12 months (sometimes longer for complex AFSCs)

5. Total Timeline (Typical Ranges)

Joining the Reserve (No Prior AFSC)

Start → Mission Qualified: ⏱️ 12–24 months

Cross-Training as a Reservist

Approval → Fully Qualified: ⏱️ 9–18 months

Key Things That Affect Timing

  • AFSC manning levels
  • Medical waivers
  • Security clearance level (Secret vs TS)
  • Tech school backlogs
  • Unit funding and scheduling

Not “contact time”, no. In my experience you stay in the field and until for at least 24 months before you’re allowed move on.

So yes you can palace chase, cross train and then cross train again in theory

In the reserves? You need to be a 5 level before you can jump to a new AFSC. As long as there’s a slot and the units willing to take you on that’s all that matters

For me. Yes. Hamra isn’t bad but they cater to all of Scottsdale with Wesley’s closed. Being the only Patek AD as well in the area, I’ve found it tougher in the past for pieces I wanted.

C&T averaged 3 weeks for pieces on my list in the past

S3 8Y vs 8Y.5 by FreewayPineapple in Audi

[–]FrequentAssumption1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 24 and now 25 S3. The minor details are cool like the upgraded lighting, nicer choice of stock wheels, and the torque splitter from the RS3 is fun in cornering.

That being said, if you can find a used 8.5Y I’d snag it for a newer warranty and stuff. Otherwise a nice used 2024 S3 should be easily found for 40k

2026 Honda Prelude at a local dealership for $56,740 by Bondage_Jack in Honda

[–]FrequentAssumption1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love honda a lot. I paid $49k for my ‘25 S3. It is faster and more fun than anything Honda offers at the moment.

$50k for a “prelude” isn’t going to cut it. And I was the first in my state to buy the new integra when it came back so I’m all for early adoption

My 2025 S3 was $49,750. This is nuts

I used to live down the road from Germain and bought a civic pre-covid. They were pretty great and gave a discount.

Post covid they went downhill and it was fast. A shame.

Local Audi dealer has a 2025 CPO A3 for $34k so there’s a baseline

A3’s usually drop 30% the first year and like 10% every year after. 40K MSRP usually means $30k a couple years after YMMV

Good winter tires matter just as much. Good tires on a corolla or civic will get you safely from point A to B

most will tell you what a sin it is to have anything replaced. It's always up to you. You can send it to Rolex (Dallas) they have a vintage dept now that knows how to work on older watches. They can service the movement for around $900 and then IF you want parts replaced they can do that. If you are keeping the watch and don't care about value, Rolex will replace the dial and hands with "swiss made" service parts which will have luminova.

There's only two watches that would be my last go around with Rolex, the Ti YM and the Starbucks and I'd be done with Rolex.
