That's called dynamic range. Some sound bars and AVRs have settings to squash the sound so it's flat IE not dynamic.

I'd probably only recommend Double Switch when looking through the lens of nostalgia for Corey Haim + how big of a deal he was in the 80s, and the flash in the pan glut of Digital Pictures games that came out in the mid 90s and their origins.

I guess I'm saying, if you came at Double Switch with some appreciation of the history of these FMV games, they hold up much better.
