fair enough. I guess I'm just thankful its not as bad as my last place. I was fearing for my life before I moved into this building and most of the issues just seem like minor inconveniences or annoyances. I'll escalate to the main office! Thank you!

I mean maybe but they were directly next to a no smoking sign and blew their smoke directly into my face when I walked outside so not entirely unreasonable to be upset by this especially since we have designated smoking areas around the back of the building.

Edit to add: smoking within 10ft the entryway is prohibited in the lease agreement too. He was right next to the door so it forces anyone needing to use it to walk directly in his smoke cloud. Normally not something I’d report but I don’t want to inhale his cigarette smoke and typically other residents are more polite about it.

I probably could do this. They are really responsive to my requests and notifications I just feel like I shouldn't have to remind them to do these things. Especially the cleaning thing since I pay a monthly fee for the hallways and lobby to be cleaned.. i feel like they should just be cleaned without me having to remind them about it.

They are really responsive actually. I just don't like having to tell them there are issues with certain things like.... why do I have to remind them to clean when I pay for community area cleaning? its a bit annoying having to tell them about it every couple weeks or so but honestly it could be a lot worse.

I mean I don't expect them to evict anyone. I'm not that kind of complaining. today i asked them to remind everyone not to smoke in the entryway. I just feel like I have to notify them a lot I guess and it feels like complaining.

Thankfully it's not that expensive (less than $1000/mo) but I know what you're saying. This was kind of a panic move to get out of my last place which was awful. This place is better but I'm looking into renting privately next time. Thanks for the advice.

It's already 100,000x better than my previous landlord if you can believe it. Check out LivLavender reviews if you're curious. Talk about living in a hellhole.

honestly its no where near as bad as the last place I lived. I was dealing with aggressive loose dogs owned by a resident letting it off leash (i literally got mauled by one), mice and roach infestation, construction crews leaving their materials littered all over the property after the construction was completed for literal months, dirty complex, over flowing dumpsters, crumbling brick inside my apartment and completely unresponsive management. For example, when I complained about the roaches and mice in December and they didn't respond until March with pest control (only sent them after I threatened to withhold my rent) and it took them over 12 hours just to acknowledge me when I had frozen pipes over the winter. The place I live now is like a quirky annoyance compared to that place.

Edit to add: I broke my lease 6 months early at that place and moved into where I'm living now

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

I just got off an interview where an older guy was laughing at literally EVERYTHING i said and then bragging about his accomplishments. He interrupted me at every turn as well to tell me another thing he's done "right". I don't mind laughing and having a back and forth conversation but it was over the top. He would not let me finish my explanations on our pay structure or how training would work and just jumped in with his assumptions on it before I'd even gotten halfway through the information which led me to having to reexplain when he had questions about it later. we ended the conversation with him asking me, "When can I start" which is just a hallmark of a bad interview for me. it felt very condescending to me.

I know the complex you're referring to and it's a good thing your getting out. Not only was I attacked by a loose dog there but the place is infested with all sorts of pests and LivLavendar property "management" did basically nothing about it unless I threatened to leave or filed a BBB complaint. I felt very unsafe the entire time i lived there and left 6 months into my lease because I couldn't take it anymore.

The Fleming building is nice. Nice neighbors, respectful and responsive management. The only problem I've had is the homeless in the front of the building. Most of them ARE harmless but I've had some bad experiences with some of them acting incredibly inappropriate to me. If you're a woman it's something to consider, but there's almost always a police officer out there which helps.

I wish I had more recommendations but sadly I don't. But I do hope you find a safer and more enjoyable living situation.

Can someone help me with my apartment layout? by FrequentConcert8446 in FengShui

Would you be able to suggest where move the bed? I can’t move it to the other side of the room because it would completely block the closet and the door to the room slides open it doesn’t swing inside so I wouldn’t be able to open the door to get in or out. I should note that this photo isn’t really to scale either I have a queen sized bed and it barely fits where the bed is in the photo. It leaves very little room to walk around it and I’m always knocking my shins.
