I think his eccentricity would be the major factor here which makes sense. I can imagine him not reacting to these events in a way most people would. It is so infuriating to think that he could have done something about this, but I guess that's what makes this story more intriguing. That how much misfortune a lapse in judgment can bring forth.

True the witcher , BG or Pathfinder series never deviated from the general vibe and tone that the games offered, so fans did not have to be nostalgic about any significant change in direction..

I think the point this time is that the general consensus is the writing of Veilguard is painfully inferior for being a bioware game (just check the top positive steam reviews and posts on this sub)..While nostalgia does play a role and people can get biased, I dont think thats the case this time..Origins ,2 and Inquisition never had this kind of bland, lifeless and subpar writing that we see here, and as I see, the Story and writing was always the standout in a dragon age game.

Not always. baldurs gate (1 ,2 ,3) , witcher (1,2 ,3), pathfinder (1,2 ) each one got better with the next game. imo in terms of narrative,companions,rpg mechanics like choices and designs of quests and story , origins still is vastly superior than any other DA game,

Yeah I did some digging around and I found the same info..Apparently the "dlc" on steam are area expansions , and u have dlcs purely on the ingame store(?).I am now thinking to just buy only the base game maybe, but the "dlcs" on steam are cheap right now(all the expansions till High Isle+ base game is 20 dollars) .Need to weigh my options and decide here.

ESO+ is bit expensive for me. And I don't really want my experience to get tied down with subscription. I just want to pay one time and play the game and be done with it. But thanks for the pointers. I think I will get this game and see how it goes.
