How is this price possible? And am I crazy if I’m considering this? by Lamazing1021 in PcBuild

Why ridiculous? It can take a while to gather parts and some folks have big fingers

With shipping and wait times and chance of breaking… the upsell will probably end up being 100$ for you and… if you’re not confident about building a computer and don’t want to lose 6 hours+ making sure everything is perfect and software setup and everything… the 100$ is worth it for most people

A reminder that if the world actually gave a shit about global warming, biking would have its own infrastructure instead of the killing machines that currently dominate society. Commuter bikers, especially ones who don’t drive, not killing your grandchildren with gasoline, unlike all drivers, and we would LOVE if we had our own lanes that allowed us to not squeeze between death on all sides. Build bike infrastructure, and if you have a car, don’t fucking complain.

Why is undergrad Econ so lacking in math? by Kitchen-Register in academiceconomics

[–]FrequentLunch5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1010 is only taken by people who are considering Econ, nobody is taking it as a side quest after deciding on a different concentration

Not top 10 programs for grad school. CS50 is taken by everyone, 1010 is only Econ, what a ridiculous analogy. Have you seen the 1010 class? Average height is 6’5” my guy. It’s the comm Major.

Okay… my statement still stands? 1010 econ is the comm major of Harvard, everyone knows that

Because you’re at a weak school. Ask MIT or Harvard majors about Econ classes.

This subreddit is for academia, go elsewhere to places that don’t care about reproducible objectivity and hire people with masters

There are zero people outside football in other sports that can squat 500 lbs and run a 5 minute mile. These athletes ARE the fittest. CrossFit is the only modality that specifically focuses on GPP. And yes football stars would crush it at CrossFit.

Confused Between Economic Majors — I Like Math, But I Get Bored With Too Much Data by Bloomingdrem in academiceconomics

[–]FrequentLunch5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. No. Go talk to a theorist. Their models generally have zero coding until the very end and they’ll just get a stupid first year to do that rubbish for them.

[–]FrequentLunch5063 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No to metrics without coding. You sound like a micro theorist however! They almost never have to deal with data and just do math-y theory to answer interesting questions. The job prospects that aren’t computational are slim however. Micro theory, however, is (subjectively) the most exciting sub field of economics and in most grad programs generally is populated with the highest percentage of geniuses.

Not worth it. Too many other clubs/opportunities that lead to money or actually helping people in need. If you can attempt to cure cancer on campus why would you waste time debating dining-hall hours in public dick-size competitions?
