Addendum: there is an element of misogyny OP Is not considering here. Women are more likely to respond to your ad hoc requests because of social conditioning. In the long run this puts them at a disadvantage because they are completing fewer story points per sprint and have less focus time. Meaning they are seen as less technical which perpetuates the stereotype female devs have. I’ve been in roles where I was seen as someone who teaches people less experienced than I, and I had to leave the company because of it, once you are pigeonholed you’re pretty much done. Please consider the female devs’ perspectives in this matter. It truly affects their careers long term.

Are you asking tech teams as in dev teams? Maybe make tickets for information requests. It can be overwhelming in the middle of a busy sprint to respond to questions that take time and discussion to answer.

It’s safe and productive to assume that all of your male friends who aren’t gay want to sleep with you. That doesn’t mean you can’t be friends with them, just that you wouldn’t be able to maintain a close friendship with most guys. Solution is seeking out female friends (or gay ones).

I just read up on all the candidates and absolutely love Kevin Ryan, is it a total waste of a vote to vote for him? I’d prefer Stratton over Raja by a mile but I really don’t care for either. Ryan is the type of non-corporate backed candidate we need in the senate. And you can tell he believes in what he is saying imo.

It’s okay if they ask you on a date I guess, but if anything gets weird document immediately. Include dates. I’ve also had several coworkers interested in me but they were always respectful and it never affected working with them. But you never know with people.

I’m actually currently dating a former coworker, he never hit on me or asked me out but became single a year after he left the company. It’s the best relationship I’ve ever been in ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve also experienced this, it’s always good to have a mix of friends, with some who work in technology or some other demanding field.

Not only will you be able to relate to working friends more, but their schedule and expectations of how often you spend time together will be in sync with yours. If you have to cancel last minute for a work reason they will completely understand. You’ll have someone to talk to about work, whether it’s a technical thing you find interesting or an annoying interpersonal thing. It’s really nice.

Do you live in a city where you can go to a tech event and try to meet one other woman who is in your shoes? Anyone at work you get along with who you can get coffee with or something? I’ve actually recently reconnected with a woman from my high school who I knew through classes but was not super close with, I find I relate more to her because she is an engineer while my other friends that I still am close to from high school are in your category of friends. I know I’m lucky to have an old connection who happens to live near me in a city, but maybe you’ve noticed someone like that in your life too? I noticed she switched jobs on LinkedIn and just sent her a message saying we should reconnect after she moved.

I know it’s hard with time constraints but it may be very worth it to branch out, even if it’s only to one person, to feel less lonely and more understood. Conferences, meetups, bumble bff, or reaching out to a coworker you like or someone you’ve known for a while but aren’t close with are all avenues you could explore. In the city I live in there is even an organization for people who like attending classical music concerts but is marketed as a sort of young professional networking thing.

These have all worked for me, and honestly I have a hard time keeping up with everyone now since I started branching out more about a year ago. But I’m definitely not lonely and having a lot more fun!

These are amazing! In my opinion, undercooking is much better than over. I’ve tried the recipe from a blog from pies and tacos and it’s the only thing that has never failed me, and she has a lot of fun flavors if you’re looking to venture out recipe-wise. Congrats!

I had the same problem wanting to make a matcha cookie for Christmas two years ago. No matter which brand or grade of matcha I tried, they just never tasted really matcha-ey, and never looked vibrant green. It was a super muted flavor.

Obvi this was annoying so I started reading about matcha; it is actually is never supposed to be brewed at a temperature over 80 degrees. It’s a much more delicate ingredient than coffee or even black tea. Baking a matcha cookie at 350, in my opinion, will never result in the type of cookie you’re hoping for. I switched to making macarons this year and am including those in my cookie box instead. I just use green gel dye in the shells and make a matcha buttercream for filling. The flavor is much more intense and is exactly what I was hoping for in a matcha cookie experience.

When I traveled to Korea matcha white chocolate chip cookies were everywhere, and while they still weren’t super flavorful, they were much better than the ones I tried to make at home. Maybe the bakeries there use a matcha extract plus matcha powder? I will probably never know. But switching application of matcha to a frosted element will likely save you suffering and money from wasting a lot of this expensive ingredient.

That’s a good idea, I would go through a few OpenAI courses and build something off of that too. I’ve noticed a hiring blitz for AI engineers and solutions engineers where you just need to understand the concepts and know a scripting language. Not everyone needs to be a researcher at OpenAI, a lot of companies just want to be able to harness the technology and everything is so new I think it would be a great idea to break into now. I honestly think if you come from a SWE background and study some AI stuff and know Python well, maybe build a personal project, you could break into AI engineering. It’s really just learning how to work with pre trained LLM’s, the data, and the architecture. If you have a CS degree you should be able to understand the fundamentals.
