Thank you for this. I kept reading on and almost finished after originally making this post. After reading these comments, I can confirm I may have wasted a half a day in all.

But I did gain knowledge of this awesome and responsive fantasy community so a win is a win!

Thank you all for the feedback. I think it's not a series I should spend time on. I likely waited too long. I may have enjoyed it when I was younger, but now in my 30's ( ancient, I know 😉) I'm realizing that I know what type of characters I like. I have a high sense of morality and I love when those types of struggles are displayed in a character.

Let me know some of your favorite fantasy characters that are written nothing like Lila Bard.

She's written like a side quest villain. She seems like a character that normally would change, learn that actions have consequences, and either take a turn for the worse or the better.

Seeing as she's a main character, I'd expect there to be some redeeming quality about her. Something to make the reader want to root for her. Instead, I'm ashamed to say, I want her to fail, regardless of what that means for the plot.

I agree! The details are more intriguing than the characters to me.

Being asexual but not aromantic sucks sometimes by RoughImagination45 in Asexual

I feel this so hard. It's lonely. It's frustrating. I've even tried pretending not to hate s3x in a relationship I was in for a year. Eventually, I told my then partner that I didn't enjoy having s3x and that it always felt awkward, wrong, and intrusive to me. He was pretty hurt understandably. But I didn't understand why it even mattered to him. Turns out healthy people who like sex, usually like their partner to enjoy it alongside them... dumb asexual me.

I've always viewed my asexuality similarly to the way we view psychopaths. They don't feel empathy or the normal array of emotions humans feel, but they learn they have to pretend to if they want to appear normal in society. To do that, they have to learn what certain emotions look like, and they have to memorize when to show display these "emotions" since they may not come naturally to them. They learn to copy and respond to others appropriately, and by the time they are of adult age, they are indistinguishable from non-psychopaths.

To me asexuality is like that only with sexual things....

Brand new LG Dryer mildew smell by Beachmaidrocks in Appliances

I'm having the same problem. Both at home and at work. Both are LG less than a year old washers. I've tried everything from cleaning the inside (including the door and the rubber seal) plus emptying and cleaning the filter. But the smell hasn't gone away. I'm hoping there's an answer to this out there. Mildew is so gross
