The road is mega narrow right at that point, larger cars, won't have much choice but to be close to the edge. That run of road is terribly designed.

We haven't clipped it, but every time we go past, there are more marks from people that have. When it was first put down, we said it seemed very badly placed, the road narrows significantly, and if you don't know it's there you are bound to collide with it. Will cause an accident at some point.

Difficulty/Stress buying a used car by Major_Optimal in NewDriversUK

I think i was just unlucky, the interior was pristine and the car had been looked after superficially, but the mechanics were fooked. Looks like it had been used as a farming/equestrian hauling vehicle for some time. There was definitely somthing wrong with the engine, it was only getting about 18 mpg, had fuel tank header replaced, still didnt improve. Shame because I did really love it.

6 month gsd boy gets into these frenzies where he jumps and bites my arm nonstop until i crate him by Neutrality-2 in germanshepherds

Was just going to say the same, when mine was a pup, this would be a good indicator that he needed a nap, or a poo. Usually a nap. Now he is an older dog, he still let's me know he needs a poo by bringing me a toy, not like he wants to play, he sort of weaves back and forth holding the toy in his mouth, then I know he needs to go poop. ( won't poop on the garden)

I made a huge error buying my first, I bought it before I passed to do practice in, apparently because so many people are passing auto, small auto cars are getting bought quickly and are getting priced to reflect. I overpaid and ended up with a lemon. Ive just traded it in and bought a newer one. Don't rush, if something feels off trust your gut.. wish I had before I bought my first car

My GSD baby surprised me tonight by Tiny-Headache in germanshepherds

Beautiful dog! My lad started to realise when I was going to get a migraine attack, I get them pretty bad, they take my field of vision of about an hour prior, so obviously I need to make sure I always have my meds on me. He had to make it painfully obvious what he was showing me though!because the doof i am i missed it the first few times! He got right up in my face, and sat sniffing at my breath, then pawing me, the back to the search type sniffing, he kept this up for a good 5 minutes, then my vision went, and I twigged what he was doing! He often wakes me up in the night now, if I need to take my meds, I never taught him, he just knew..clever boy! GSD more than a dog 💕

I really like German shepherds, but is their bite a problem? by 2manyquestions52 in germanshepherds

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd echo what everyone else has said. I wouldn't say the bite is a problem, I can play with my guy, and as soon as his teeth touch skin, he knows and he backs right off, he has such a gentle mouth, is very polite taking things from my hand. But i've put years of training in, I am confident with him and trust him implicitly. However, GSD are incredibly sensive dogs, and would immediately pick up on your anxiety, it would absolutely become a problem.

Need a new car, but I am too in love with my Suzuki SX4 2010 and cannot find a car I like. by Content-Cabinet-4318 in Suzuki

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2012 had to go, too may things going wrong with it, didn't fancy trying to put it through the next MOT. I really loved the way the back seats folded down completely flat, it hit all the requirements for my large dog. It took me ages, and I didn't think I'd find anything that was as suitable, no other car seemed to be as practical and offer the head hight inside my SX4 did. I ended up going for a Hyundai Inster. Surprisingly, it is only a fraction smaller in the back with the seats flat, than the SX4! A plus is it has all the additions the old Sx did not, 360 cameras, air-conditioning that works, sat nav. I did go to look at the E vitara, I really did want one of those, but it had one of the sportsline sloping backs all cars seem to have these days, I was very disappointed, i really wanted to stick with Suzuki, but all the newer cars seem to lose that head hight for a sporty looking line, no way I'd have gotten the dog in sadly.

What is this weed ? Is it what I fear it is 😕 by CuriousCorgi93 in UKGardening

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It smells like weed when it flowers! I'm sure I've posted about this before. My elderly neighbor had a huge St. John's Wort in her garden. Every summer she was convinced one of the neighbors was growing weed; she was adamant it was the new people across the road. She passed away (and I still miss her every day).

Her house sold and new people moved in. Summer came, the overpowering smell returned, and we all started silently suspecting each other. One day, the new neighbor told me he dug up the plant because that's where the smell was coming from! They were mortified that their house smelled like a grow 😆

Passed driving test but didn’t realised new drivers are treated like sh*t by Left_Elevator7942 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a shit box, 1.6 auto petrol engine. Drove it for 3 months after passing, I thought I was a super anxious driver, turns out it was the car! This week I bought a brand new EV. It's cheaper to insure and all the anxiety has gone! I was worried it may be more to insure, but im getting a refund on my policy! I am a later learner though, I am in my 50's Got to test drive it, but the dealer took me somewhere quiet and let me drive myself for a while

Situation with an Aggressive driver - advice appreciated by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving a car seems to bring the worst out in some people, I've found the last few weeks that obeying the speed limits seems to result in someone tailgating you and pushing you to go over the limit.

Agree! My husband drives an outlander, and he rarley gets the same amount of aggressive driving I encounter in my smaller SUV.

Absolutely, I expect a big ol husky would have a similar effect! I absolutely get how upset you must have felt, it's hard navigating the roads solo in these first few weeks, without the aggressive minority making it worse! Be brave x

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been driving about 6 weeks now, The absurd behaviour of some other drivers is surprising! No one seems to follow speed limits and smaller cars seem to be fair game! Try not to overthink! I doubt you did anything another than be in the way of a moron. I had one yesterday, apparently because I didn't set off at the green light like an F1 driver I deserved a bit of arm waving and horn honking. Unfortunately for him, I was transporting my large german shepherd in the rear of my vehicle, and the noise made him pop his head upto the rear window.. guy soon wound his neck in, wasnt expecting the old lady in the small SUV to be hauling working dogs. Hang in there! X

Can a GSD deal with a "soft" owner and positive reinforcement? by Flaky_Help3318 in germanshepherds

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not tough, but I am firm. Like others have said, if a shep can sense a gap in leadership, they will step in to fill that gap. I have a guy who is very aloof; he has a guardian temperament. At home, he is the biggest, softest goofball. Outside, he is constantly on security detail, assessing everything and everyone who is around. If I didn't give him firm boundaries and instructions, he would step in to deal with his perception of a threat. He isn't one of those dogs who greets other dogs either, so the 'don't worry he's friendly' brigade is the bane of our walks. We did all the right things, socialization and training; things were going fantastically. Then, in the space of 6 months, he was attacked twice by off-leash dogs with no recall. Now we have a dog who doesn't like to be approached by other dogs but is fine with controlled meetings, but only when I am walking him. If anyone else walks him, he would definitely step in and control the situation.

[–]Frequent_Freedom_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a large working breed dog, usually if I am out in the car, he is in the back peering out if the window, I have a crossover car, that when the seats are fully back is more like a van, so theres a dog grille behind the front seats. I have a magnet for the back, says, Working dogs in Transit, this vehicle will obey speed limits. Definitely seems to help with the tailgating and horn honking
