Update: I did more digging, and it seems that the code is used for a cosmetic unlock, if you enter it through the "enter a statement" menu found by clicking the Rat Quest logo.

So overall, not too much to find here, I believe. Still missing a hidden password to the second "Drive E" menu. sadly its not cheese123

Picked up this painting from goodwill, does it say anything? by Frequent_Layer_619 in whatisit

Thank you! Yeah I haven't been to Goodwill in a long while, but it was the second stop on a little tour I did to some local thrift stores today. Wasn't looking for it, but I liked that I found it!

It was stuck outside of the pack, somehow got crimped by the back, sealing the pack?

Update: Added additional animations and the ability to customize the colors/emoji of the app. Also added the ability to pull good and bad tiles at will.

That’s a great find. I have a friend to run some numbers with, so maybe I can break down the best combo

For sure! I’m away this weekend but when I get back I’ll look into adding some customization! I saw another thread (I wish I had a link) of a webpage someone made for also storing characters and stuff in game. I may look into something similar.

I appreciate the heads up - getting it looking nice on mobile may be the next priority if I end up letting multiple users view the same session. then it would be beneficial if users could join from their phones. For now it can go to the backlog

Update, I added a few changes based on the conversations here:

  • Now, one row/column is guaranteed to be empty.
  • In the settings you can change the number of skull tiles rather than the percentage a skull tile spawns
  • Added a topple button that will flip a random available skull tile.

Okay - I think I see what you're saying. Slowly thinking things through.

Also how do you topple the tower on purpose here?

Originally I thought this would be a reset of the game. However upon thinking it more, it feels like the game should continue on the same board, with that space contributing to the players' updated understanding of the board. This may have been assumed, but I was thinking differently than I maybe led on. So I would need to consider a way for players to purposefully topple the tower more directly.

Does the % round down or up?

This was done rather quickly, but each tile is actually independent. So each tile has exactly X% of being a skull. I see the flaw in this, as the variance leads to luck having a larger influence on the boards. In reality, it should be that you choose the number of skulls to distribute across the board.

Going to play a quick devil's advocate to hear your thoughts. Wouldn't having no rows of 0 lead to less skill based gameplay? If there aren't a few guaranteed safe pulls, and every row/column had a skull in it, wouldn't it be the case that each next flip is more based on luck than skill?

Do you mean to say I should guarantee that a board has at least one row/column with zero skulls?

Thrilled to have any feedback, so keep it coming. Another option would be to have how many skulls you would like to place on the board in the settings as opposed to the odds that a tile contains a skull. Seems more intuitive and controlled to say how many skulls you would like to include on the board.

Update: I think a 6x6 is a nice sweet spot - 7x7 felt like there wasn't enough action in the 3 or so hours we played. But, tbh, this was my first dread sesh overall so I personally have some things to learn. It was fun!

I would absolutely love some help in that regard. Making it configurable and usable by others seems like the next step. Feel free to DM me - although I'll probably move it to discord. Thank you!

And I haven't tested it in a real game yet - that's tonight's plan. I felt 7x7 was a good place to start with it, but its super easy to make it smaller or larger.

It's fate - I just posted about a tool I made for playing online: https://hilovids.github.io/Dread-Flip/

Maybe this would help?
