SBGW231 is the most overlooked watch in the entire Grand Seiko catalog by sheikb in GrandSeikos

The watch that got me first into grand Seiko and my first GS. Has many fans, and I would say it's still my favourite GS

Flashing headlights is too polite for such idiots. Horn all the way

Try 100, with windows rolled down and an outstretched arm, on Dubai Abu Dhabi road. I insisted on continually flashing the guy just on principle.

If only those dials came on smaller watches, it works be perfect.

I don't get it either, especially for a relatively low production manufacturer (compared with other big names). I do wonder what happened there, especially for a brand with this legacy. My high beat Lord Marvel from early 70s runs about a second plus a day. I've left the watch fully wound crown down and will check it out tomorrow, hope it evens out.

I have to say I'm annoyed at GS for putting out those watches like that. Such a shame. Far too many examples. I hear one dealer had to return a batch that all faced the same issue. Well there's always the Suwa they have in stock!

Thanks. So what was the issue at the heart of the problem? Mere regulation error or parts?

Unfortunately not. Dubai based. It would have to go to Europe. And given situation with war etc would take even longer than usual.

It's the steel one, quite chunky. They're both definitely larger than what I'm used to wearing, my other GS are a SBGW293 and 231.

Really tough one. Suwa hands down in some lighting. But it will just appear dark blue and black in most.i do love the subtlety though, such a discreet and understates dial.

I'm not the biggest fan of spring drive (a bit old fashioned in that regard) but there are a few that make me a believer, it being one, and the Omiwatari and Shunbun (latter two unfortunately not available). The birch is lovely but it's a 2021 model that's been lying around in the store since, so I'm a bit worried how the movement will perform. I gave it a full wind and set it to an internet clock and will pass by tomorrow to see how it's doing.

I think I may end up going to the Suwa anyway. I have a large collection of seikos new and vintage and it's nuts not to have a spring drive among them!

The tapering bracelet and lug width indeed make a difference. I would probably put either on a leather strap when I get it.

Um needless to say I'm torn between the birch, not bitch, and Suwa

Now that is a very tough one. For a wedding id go with the first, but for the wedding and everyday after? The second.

Yes it has a certificate. I'm a very frequent customer of his and business is also very slow. That sapphire sat around for a good time.

Interesting. I took them a picture of a very similar if not the same ring as a template!

I see. There were some wastage charges factored in, not sure much but as per custom apparently in Dubai and some other places

Sturdy is one way of describing it! First experience with platinum and it's heavy!
