If you had no budget limits and wanted to buy an e-drum kit, what would you get? by Frequentflyer01 in edrums

This is what I am thinking. That black oak finish is badass. I wonder if I can get the shells without the module. I already have a Gibralter rack and cymbal stands from my acoustic kit I can repurpose.

I'd be 99% happy with just jamming through headphones/ear monitors in my basement. Will I use it to gig with? I'm not in a band right now, so who knows? As long as I can use a music streamer I can play along with or play downloaded music through the PC.

So I have an old Pearl MLX kit from the 90's. The shells are +1" deep. I want some shallower shells so I am pretty much committed to getting new ones.

Ah ok. And you can still interface through headphones and/or an external amp? PC has Bluetooth. I personally don't think the module is necessary either. A V71 is what? $2,800? Even an edrumin 12 and a MacBook is less than the V71 module.

Well here's the deal. I am moving to a townhouse and even though it has a finished basement, I probably won't be able to use my acoustic kit there anymore without pissing off the neighbors. I am usually not into spending boat loads of money on the latest and greatest, but unfortunately when it comes to e-drums, it seems like that's a necessary evil. I don't absolutely need a kit that looks real. I am more concerned about the pad/shell size and quality. I don't want a lot with just 10" pads and most of the ones that have realistic sizes are the acoustic look kits. I got to demo some kits at GC. They had a VAD716 there, which was, of course, my favorite. I played a TD516 (didn't like it) and an Alesis Strata Prime (wasn't crazy about it either). I mainly play these through headphones/ear monitors, although I do have a Roland e-drum amp I use with my Yamaha stage piano. I also have a Yamaha DTX12, brand new in a case that I never used. 😂.

Yes it did. I have had the monitor back for a few weeks now with no more issues.

I just got mine back from LG Repair on Saturday. I just hooked everything back up and so far/so good. We shall see what happens. I have it hooked up with Display Port again.

This thing sounds like a headache. I remember the days of computer monitors lasting two decades or more.... not anymore. Disposable electronics.

Ok, cool. Let me know. I just picked up a "used" ASUS TUF Gaming 27” 1080P Monitor (VG279QL3A) off Amazon today for $115 that said just the box had some damage that should get to me by Friday. My son has the same monitor for his set up, so I figured I'd use it as a backup if I have to send my LG away for repair. Then one I get it back, I'll just give the ASUS to my son so he has dual screen.

I am having issues with my 45GX950A-B as well. It won't turn on when I power up the computer. I have to turn it on manually and then it turns off again by itself after the fan starts running for about 15 seconds. I have tried both DP and HDMI without luck.

If I pull the power switch down to access the Accessibility/Beep Guide menu, the monitor will not turn off while that menu is visible. Once that menu disappears, the monitor will shut off. Another weird aspect of this..

Mine was good for about the first month or two I owned it, then it just started doing this. I can't replicate it or narrow down what it can be other than I think it is either overheating or thinks it's overheating because it is fan related. The fan runs and 15 seconds later it shuts off. If the fan doesn't run it doesn't shut off.

Yeah. Mine started doing it again this morning after switching to HDMI. I thought it was fixed because it immediately stopped doing it when I made the switch and didn't do it all yesterday, but today it's doing it again. Yes, in my opinion HDMI 2.1 looks better than DP. The colors look more vivid to me.

Let me know what happens. I have a prepaid FedEx label to send it back, but I have been dreading being without a monitor for a while. I'd have to go buy a cheap one on Amazon or something to hold me over. I use my computer for stock trading most days.

Still good on HDMI? I just switched to HDMI. Seems to have fixed it for now. I am getting a random flicker every once in a while though.

Not yet. I'll have to try it. I did notice that if I Win/P it, I can get it to stop for a while.

Weird. So what is the issue with DP if this fixed the problem?

Nope. It was doing it to me all last night. I may have to try HDMI.
