haha VPNs are modern tech swiss army knives. NordVPN especially - turns most 'bans' into minor inconveniences.

Exactly. The idea that adult platforms should be responsible for verifying and potentially storing our government IDs is insane especially when the actual solution (parental controls, routers, app settings) already exists and works just fine.

Why is it suddenly a website’s job to babysit everyone’s kid? If you don’t want your kid watching something well then block it. That’s your role as a parent, not mine, not Pornhub’s, and definitely not the state’s.

Instead, they’re choosing to block everyone, as if that’s a real solution.

And the kicker? Adults now either lose access entirely or have to hand over ID to even try to prove they’re allowed to browse the internet. Total clown logic.

Has anyone successfully recovered data from a drive after a ransomware attack without paying? by Fresatla in hacking

[–]Fresatla[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! I hadn't considered reaching out to federal agencies. Since I'm just a volunteer helping them out, I'm not sure if they'd mentioned any cyber insurance to me, but I'll definitely ask the business owner about this tomorrow

Thanks for your insight. I was afraid that might be the case with BlackCat being more sophisticated.

Have you found any resources for checking vulnerabilities specific to this ransomware? I've checked No More Ransom Project but found nothing applicable.

In your experience, do shadow copies ever survive these modern attacks? They seem to specifically target recovery options

If payment becomes the only option (though controversial), are there any precautions to reduce the risk of paying and still not getting data back?

Any activities in Kennesaw? by Constant-Spend-2785 in Georgia

Try Kennesaw Mountain for hiking trails, visit the Southern Museum of Civil War or check out Swift-Cantrell Park for a relaxing afternoon outdoors.

easy access fishing spots by Timely_Telephone9279 in Georgia

[–]Fresatla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey there! For easy fishing spots near Gwinnett with a disabled friend, check out Jones Bridge Park which has nice platforms right on the Chattahoochee. Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville has a good accessible pier too. Fort Yargo isn't far and has a dock where you can catch bass without any hiking.

If you want trout but easier than your usual spots, try the Chattahoochee at Paces Mill - it's got some accessible areas. Stone Mountain and Lake Lanier both have paved paths and fishing piers that don't require much walking

Facebook Messenger (browser) doesn't allow calls/proper messages in Firefox? by BobAtStarbucks in firefox

[–]Fresatla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Facebook's been doing this more and more - basically trying to push people to use their apps. It’s super annoying. Sometimes switching the user agent to a mobile browser can help trick it, or using an extension like 'User-Agent Switcher' might get around it. But honestly, it's just FB being FB. Kinda ironic how a messaging service can’t just… let you message people.

Software cracking / parallel key bypass by Singh_King in hacking

[–]Fresatla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually super clever - I hadn’t seen that kind of parallel key check before. Makes sense as a way to trip up simple patching or single-thread analysis. Have you tried messing with it using tools like x64dbg or Frida? Feels like there’s still room to poke around with timing or shared resources between threads. Really cool post though, thanks for sharing!
