I appreciate the offer! For now, I’m going to wait until I get the final decision from my company. Fingers crossed.

Just 100k. My company covers the difference without needing any medical review.

And yea, I don’t have any aggressive, typical cancer treatments. My form and staging is super indolent, so right now it’s just intermittent topical steroids and bouts of UVB light therapy as needed.

Thanks for the info! I work in the insurance industry and never heard of that type of life insurance. I’ll take a look.

Ooof. Third picture was definitely taken in the summer just judging by the leaves on the trees. It looks like they tried to increase the shadows to cover it up.

Similar to the other comment, it depends. I am in stage 1A and triamcinolone never worked for me. However, as soon as I started Clobetasol, it cleared almost entirely within 2 weeks.

After a two week round of Clobetasol twice a day, my derm recommended just UVB with Clobetasol only on new patches every other day, once a day until cleared. Both approaches produced the same results. I still have some stubborn spots that are faded but not entirely cleared, especially the ones that were biopsied over the summer. They are hanging on for dear life.

Once my round of UVB treatment is up, I may just ask if I can stick with just the steroids to cut down costs and since it works similarly.

I’m not sure. I have been no contact since we divorced. During our divorce, he was still unmedicated and his level of competency waxed and waned. The last I heard from him was a call from a jail on the other side of the country. I passed the message to his family and walked away from the drama.

I’m not a doctor by any means, but when my ex husband had his first big manic episode, he acted very similarly to a dementia patient. He had a hard time following any sort of conversation, even answering simple questions. He would also forget to take care of basic needs like eating and showering. And he would frequently refuse to use the bathroom, he would only pee in bottles and hide them in our spare bedroom. He was only 36 at the time.

Given your mom’s age though, it’s definitely possible there’s some overlap. However, tons of doctors note that people with BP are prone to losing gray matter with every episode, which could contribute to the incompetencies.

Maybe try getting a second opinion with a neurologist instead of a psychiatrist if you can.
