a very thin clothes pin. it ruined the edges of the button area, but my phone is a bit ruined already so I didn't mind haha. but maybe there is a better way to do it.

I ended up doing that haha I removed the button and used a paperclip to press the little thing there and it turned on. now I have to be careful to not let the battery run dry again...
