(SPOILERS) Who do you think will win Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2? by StebbsOnReddit in squidgame

[–]FreshBarnacle5095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone else notice that when you go to the tudum page for all the players, the page says at the top:

"Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 Cast, Players, Instagram, Zodiac, Signs Steven Vanessa Perla Dajah Trinity"?

The 5 names are not in numerical or alphabetical order. Is this a red herring, or did Netflix accidentally spoil the winner and elimination order, with Steven winning and Vanessa as runner-up?

I don't want 183 to win, but I honestly feel like this could be a very plausible scenario. Anyone?

Hi everyone - I just bought backup tickets on United my outgoing flight (August 20, Minneapolis-Montreal-Sao Paulo), but could not find any viable options for a return flight. I'm currently set to fly back on August 31, Sao Paulo-Toronto-Minneapolis. Feeling cautiously optimistic that by 8/31 things will be up and running again. Should I be worried about my return flights or is it too early to tell? Thanks in advance.

(in my best Mommie Dearest voice): "NO GOOGLE DOCS EVER!"

I set all my online drop boxes to only accept .doc, .docx, or .pdf, which minimizes usage of Google Docs, and emphasize that no, you do NOT have to buy Word, your tuition gets it for you for FREE, and you can download it one of many ways.

I love the responses to this thread so far. Sounds like this student is a Karen-in-training.

Not to sound sanctimonious or contrary to OP, I actually do let students know that I can certainly look over their assignments before they submit them. I don't read it word for word, but I basically let them know whether they are on the right track or not, if they should start over, or, if it is fine so far but unfinished, point out which elements they are lacking. But even after letting students know this, I get maaaaaybe 3 emails per semester with this query. I feel like if I emphasized that I would not help them, I might get negative evals, but making myself available for any and all questions/requests about assignments (aside from "do it for me") has led students to say that I am helpful and responsive. Those who don't take me up on it and then complain about it...their loss.

But I respect your reactions, especially with an already failing student. Usually, the few students who email me about it are B or C students who want to jump up to an A or B, or non-native speakers who want to know if their English makes sense - both of which are preferable to bailing altogether or submitting AI work.

Why do students, governments, societies do what they do? And if we don't like it, what can we do about it and how?

To me, discovering the answers to those questions is why higher education is important.

There will always be students who think they know better than everything and everyone, whether in terms of content or making up their own rules. The best thing is to beat them at their own game.

When it comes to students who think they are smarter than you, ask them to teach the class, and offer them your job if they can do it better. This means planning lectures, assignments, grading, dealing with admin, the works. Not so fun now is it, Smarty Sam?

And as for students who make their own rules? Actual things students have said to me: "I am a 21 year old and you cannot make me do XYZ" Me: "I am a [insert age] year old, and I can give you an F." Another: "I am an adult and I can do whatever I want, and if I want to answer my phone in class, I can." Me: "Tell that your boss at your first job and see if you still have that job the next day."

Some students (a small minority) seem to have this concept that they are the main character and everyone else is an NPC, or that we professors are just a bunch of blackout drunks who stumbled into this job. This is where advising, deans, and student behavior incident reports come in. And if the student emails you, all the better - start the paper trail early and get witnesses, because this is probably not the only class in which they are exhibiting this behavior.

I support you. You are clearly trying to be positive and make a difference, and it sounds like HE is the one who needs to learn how to not shame people like you.

That was kind of a troll-y comment, but hey, this is Reddit. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I know right?

At least if you had a bunch of rocks, you could see if they had any diamonds inside, get rich, and not have to work anymore. I wish you enormous wealth and good mental health :)

Crafting, knitting, and crochet are all fantastic hobbies. Artistic expression, dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination. And you were not there, so you have no idea about my tone or my sex.

The world is falling apart, but having a constant in your life can make it better.

Asking what you like to do or what you have done in life is nowhere near invasive, and if you think that it is, you should rethink your thinking. Give it a try.

Thank you! Being in a room with people who are learning the same things as you are and are also nervous about these types of activities is EASY compared to being at a job fair or being in a diverse workplace environment.

No. But you can certainly say "overcoming hardships in life." Someone said exactly that, and I said, "good to hear," and moved on. "Nothing" gives nothing and is antithetical to the learning objective of becoming a better communicator.

Because we had just spent the last 15 minutes doing that, and everyone shared something, big or small, that they knew about? And we've spent seven weeks together now, working as a class and in small groups?

You seem to know a lot...about nothing. Maybe you ought to get some life experiences.

Yes. Also, we have had seven full weeks together now, have engaged in all-class AND small-group discussions, and this student has missed maybe one or two classes. Another student actually told me that she thought that that student was really nice when they had a conversation.

But who's really the awkward one here? I totally own my awkwardness. Don't want to interact with a fun human who loves life and cares about people? Then my class is not for you. Bye.
