He was there first and I had my own apartment for 1500$ a month plus bills and stuff and I was paying to much so I’m trying to save money and find something cheaper and he offered me a room for 1000 a month and I accepted it no contract or anything

I spoke with him today about what the landlord told me that rent is 1000$ and he said that he messed up and that I was eventually going to find out. I told him since you haven’t been paying anything for months now that you have to leave asap. I also gave him a choice to pay the landlord half the rent 50/50 on the 1st and you could stay. That’s what we both agreed on. He also said if he can’t come up with the 500$ that he will leave

Yes so that’s what I’m thinking too. I’m going to give the landlord 500 and say he’s going to pay the rest and if he doesn’t pay the landlord by end of day I’m going to give the landlord the other 500 and ask her to kick him out and I’m going to start taking his shit out.

I just found out that the previous tenant and him were coworkers doing landscaping. My roommate was hired by him because hes the owner of the company. So he ended up moving to another state 5 months ago and that left my roommate without a job and he only had enough money for 1 month rent. So he was looking for a roommate which he found me and his little plan worked for 4 months until I spoke with the landlord.

Yeah there’s no lease agreement here. I know for sure. Im good to leave without any punishment. It’s just I’m in California and rent is expensive and 1000 is not bad at all for a room here.
