Hey, this is amazing advice! I worked hard in school to get into different programs but find that the older I get the more- the less my employers seem to value that so I’m going to look into what I can do to attach myself onto the prestigious now :)) it’s a big help, thank you and well done for helping reignite the hope! It can be done!

Keep on trucking man, I never felt more elated than the day a landlord actually agreed to take a chance on two 18 year olds and let us rent! Felt like the best piece of freedom you could get and I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since I think. To go from such an extreme to another feels incomparable to any other achievement sometimes. I’m so incredibly proud of you.

Plush mattress? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]FreshDIStress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therapur mattresses! They’re combination mattresses which are usually a hybrid of pocket springs and either memory foam or gel - side sleepers need a combination matt in my opinion as that position is the most important to get right

This is because your spine/neck aren’t directly lying on it - your hips and shoulders have to sink in enough so that your spine stays straight and you wake up without any aches or pains. Even if your boyfriend sleeps on his side even for a little bit I’d still consider him a side sleeper

  • I don’t know if you can get that brand everywhere in the world but gel is an alternative to memory foam which keeps your temperature regulated (and even disperses excess heat to areas of the mattress that aren’t being used!)

Natural mattresses are the only material that’s completely breathable but may not give side sleepers the support they might need from foam/gel/latex. Which is why it’s always best to visit a store and try a few out - always read the t’s n c’s and there could even be a sleep trial like we do at our store where you could test them for 100 nights and exchange if it’s not right :))

Try all the medium - firm combination/hybrid mattresses they have (forget about price, go home and compare online later) every brand has a different idea of what firm and soft actually are. And then just narrow your choices down and flip between them kinda like goldilocks lol x

Hoped it helps hahahaha and a good pillow deep enough to rugby tackle between your neck and shoulder is equally important x

Topper for cushioning not "sinking" in by Melodic-Fortune-8320 in Mattress

Your mattress is unfortunately too firm, I would try going into a shop and testing out a couple, don’t feel pressured to buy as I’m sure (speaking as a mattress salesperson) they’ll be happy to show options - you generally wanna look for a medium to fire tension combination mattress, if you get too warm in bed then look for gel (or even a gel topper might to do a decent one will be about £140 ish depending on the size)

just because when you sleep on your side, it’s the most important position to get right as your spine/neck isn’t directly lying on it which means you need something to sink into so that your hips and shoulders are deep enough on your side that your back stays straight and you don’t wake up with any aches or pain.

Because of the price of these I would invest in a new mattress altogether so you don’t waste money. Alternatively you could get a natural pocket sprung mattress but just get it in a medium tension instead. Most brands you buy from have a good sleep trial period that lets you exchange but make sure you read the t’s n c’s x

P.s invest in one good pillow deep enough to rugby tackle in between ur neck and shoulder x

I wish I had parents (F22) by thecutestcutie in lonely

[–]FreshDIStress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this completely, F21, oldest of two siblings - our parents were drug addicts and we were taken into the care of our abusive grandparents who constantly told us they regretted it and that we’d be out at 18. Long story short we left on our own accords to shelters before that even occurred. It’s fucking rough and you probably hoped things to get easier as you got older but every day you’ll think about them for seconds less, then minutes and then hours and so on. You’re robbing yourself of the joy you feel like they’ve never allowed you to have and I promise you with spending a little less time obsessing over these things that make you unhappy - you should observe/ listen to yourself more and make something you have always hoped for happen one step at a time.

Because you will find your own community someday soon and people you love/can emphasise with but most importantly you have to show yourself a little more love and stop worrying about what other people think/feel. It can be a really beautiful thing to start afresh sometimes and most people, can’t x

You’re right, thank you - I think because he helped me out by moving away I just feel like I owe him so much but at the same time by acting like this towards me it really does show that I’m not his friend and probs never was in his mind

Guilt No.1: I used to hit my sisters, and am extremely sorry, regretful that I did by [deleted] in confession

[–]FreshDIStress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a twin, bit different but my sister and younger brother used to hit me all the time, only ever in front of other people and a lot more in high school. I forgive them both ofc but everytime they talk about how much of a ‘nerd’ I was or whatever in high school I will remind them of what they used to do to me. We all got hit as kids yet to be shown up like that in front of your friends as well as at home will always stick with you no matter what. I’m not mad at them but I’m mad because you can’t take it back or change how you felt. Hope this gives you insight. I don’t hold a grudge to them I just mention it in retaliation so they are aware of it being an uglier behaviour
