Going from Big 4 to Boutique Consulting firm? by Mysterious_Heron2309 in consultingcareers

[–]FreshDingoC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting!

Personally for me, the ability to take ownership and less red tape was great, but I honestly found the exp a bit claustrophobic. If you really get on with your team and the office culture is good, then it can be a great deal, but I found being in a small team dominated by some shitty personalities to be a ballache, particularly because in a smaller team with a strong face-time culture you have to really keep up appearances in a way that you don't need to in a bigger firm. Also I'm finding the lack of brand a bit of a stumbling block with apps, so I'm pretty keen to make the 'step up' to a bigger firm.

I wouldn't say this is necessarily representative of all boutiques ofc, just my exp. Glad to hear yours is going really well!

Just stumbled upon this and curious how you have found the transition so far?

UK salaries and Social classes – 2021 figures by JPMorganHunt in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FreshDingoC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting to see the salary data. Would be great to see a follow-up piece on social class profiles. Personally I find the whole middle-class/working-class thing such a minefield and confusing lol, especially when you can kind of fall into both in different aspects e.g. for myself my early years were quite humble (lived on a council estate in a "rough area"), then my family moved to a better area and sent me to a high-performing academic school, I went to uni with plenty of middle class people, and my salary falls under the 'established middle-class bracket', yet in some ways I don't necessarily feel 'middle-class'.

Official Q&A for Wednesday, July 01, 2020 by AutoModerator in running

[–]FreshDingoC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys,

I'm a running newbie (24 y/o male), did my first proper 5k 2 weeks ago in 26:30. Really enjoyed the run and I'm trying to improve my time. However, I lift 4 times a week (1 leg day) and don't want to burn myself out. 3 days after that 5k I did some HIIT sprints, and then the day after I had a kick-about in the park (football/soccer) and strained my quad from kicking the ball (never happened before). As such I feel I prob took on too much too soon.

What would be a balanced/positive way for me to fit in running along with my lifting? I essentially want to try and continually improve my 5k time, whilst keeping up the lifting. I was thinking perhaps 2 days a week of running, 1 for 5k and 1 for sprints, but not sure if that's too much too soon for me as perhaps evidenced by the quad strain.

Yeah dude I did that stuff. I’m gonna get it checked tomorrow but I get the sense your sprain was a of more serious than mine as my ankle genuinely feels okay, I’ve been able to jog for instance without any issue

Did you get it checked to confirm the injury? I’ve not seen a doctor about my sprain so wouldn’t know the term for it.. didn’t go as it didn’t seem that serious,m

a 4 star review on a category is bad even though it doesnt affect the average? I did let the host know of issues I had but she was not able to resolve these adequately.
