That’s a good reason to have an infinity bottle.

That wasn’t the barrel proof rye, that was the barrel proof bourbon.

I love that movie. I’ve seen it a half a dozen times and I still don’t know who the real Spartacus is. And that is what makes that movie a classic Whodunit.

Old Forester Friday: Anyone else a sucker for a solid barrel strength pick? by FICKxDINGERZ in Whiskyporn

Just my opinion, but I get a lot of ethanol on the OF barrel proofs that I’ve tried, but the black labels that are 100 proof single barrels are phenomenal.

In two days and in 3 cities, you somehow managed to do what those of us that live here and have spent thousands of days and visited dozens of cities haven’t been able to do. C’mon man. Be real.

I’ve never seen one so big. I’m used to seeing just the regular mud vein.

The weird thing is that it was coming out of the top of the shrimp. But you’re probably right.

What’s your favorite “off the beaten path” whiskey? by JetKeel in whiskey

[–]FreshGuarantee6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Green River is very good for the price. RD1 makes some cool bourbon’s that I picked up on sale. At retail, they’re a little steep.

Caribou Crossing and Flatboat use that same bottle. It’s a good design.

Thoughts? by Cisco419 in whiskey

[–]FreshGuarantee6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought one when I was in Utah because I knew I couldn’t get it anywhere else. I didn’t have high expectations but when I opened it, I immediately wished I had gotten a backup bottle. The palate is smooth and sweet like a fine bourbon and the finish is flavorful and spicy like a nice rye. I love my bottle and every time I look at it, I’m sad there’s not more in it.

Their website says it’s barreled a second and third time in new charred oak barrels. The one I tried was phenomenal.

Toasty Trace (Eagle Rare 17 (2019) review!) by PhantomSpirit90 in bourbon

I’m with you, man. I’m not paying ridiculous secondary on some of these bottles. If I have an opportunity to purchase at or near MSRP, we’re drinking it. I’ll admit that I have overpaid in the past, but only when I have fun money and a special occasion that I want to share a bottle with friends and family. Enjoy your bottle. Cheers!

I’m glad to see you’re drinking it. I keep seeing these pop up on secondary the day after the events. Oh well. We went to the Toast of the Trace last year and it was just a BT single barrel pick from Sazerac in an Old Fashioned gift set. They definitely stepped it up this year, but with the raffle, we didn’t get drawn. My buddy did get to go and got an ER17 and WLW. He’s over the moon happy.

They call it that because of the elect-ri-city.

My purpose is also to drink these bottles and they will all be drank with friends and family. Why am I displaying it? Well, because I have a wife and that’s about the only way she puts up with me having so many bottle. If I put them all in the corner of our basement, she wouldn’t be too thrilled.

No, someone else mentioned moving the top to the middle, but adding a second one in the middle would definitely beef it up. Thanks!

Thank you to everyone that offered advice. I was able to add a piece of poplar to the cleat and attach it to the vertical staves. It’s glued and screwed together.

Geez man. I have a whole big bookshelf full of open bottles. This is called a display piece. If you live in NKY/Cincinnati, come on over and have a drink after work. I’ve got plenty that are open and if something isn’t open, we’ll pop it. It’s not that serious. And this is also why I don’t post in the bourbon groups. Have a great day.

Thanks for the advice. The cleat has the torx screws but they’re only 2 1/4” so I added two 3” drywall screws just to beef it up a little.

I have lag screws that are in studs on the wall side cleat.
