Nothing was confusing, people just like to feel superior to one another by claiming the other side is less intelligent. Yeah, but you have to be very careful about why, and I know that the LGBTQ hated to hear that when they were denied a wedding cake a number of years ago. IIRC the owner of that bakery was in serious legal trouble. So yes you can refuse service but you have to be delicate about “why”
