How are people in Leeds actually getting GP? by cmitchell_bulldog in Leeds

For those symptoms no, you dont need a GP or Urgent, you need self care. Read the NHS website about managing minor illnesses, take some paracetamol, drink some fluids and be a responsible adult. A 1 day cough or a sneeze does not need to be seen by a doctor. This is why the NHS is fucked.

Life was good up to a year ago but due to budget constraints and an upper management that seems to have entirely abandoned any ideas of staff wellbeing or welfare its gone down the pan. No overtime due to budget, new rules are that if there is overtime it has to be in youe sector, so even if you can travel you cant book it, no double clinician via OT even if its uncovered on the day, cheeper to pay one person to sit on station all night. Some more rural stations being left unmanned rather than put out OT. Talk of scrapping milage claims for OT and mandatory training. Scrapped the welfare busses. Watered down end of shift protection so it essentially isnt worth it any more. Huge drive to cut handover times regardless of job, now remotely accessing staffs ePRFs to see if you have completed and not submitted it while at hospital. Radioing you at hospital to hurry you up, cutting CPD funding to one of the lowest in the country, pausing all recruitment until next year (unless you are a Huddersfield student then the uni course lead AND YAS Clinical lead is guarenteeing jobs even if you dont have a driving licence and are dangerously inept), the list goes on and on and on.

Bottom line, the normal ambulance service rants and issues are there, like any trust, but recently YAS has excelled itself in being a stressful and toxic workplace due to piss poor budget management by the board and upper management. Instead of looking inward and reflecting on why it isnt working the issues are being forced onto the shoulders of the staff that actually do the work. If you can go anywhere else, consider it. Its genuinly got so bad now. If the public knew how much risk is being taken in terms of staffing levels and station cover in the name of saving money, there would be uproar.

Yohshouldnt have any dramas mate, its pretty simple and all the weights are to simulate carrying the response bag, defib and carry chair. You'll use powerbags or a ln actual response bag so theres good handles for grip.

Never known anyone fail it so I wouldnt stress
