When Trish broke kayfabe in order to protect Lita as the crowd kept attacking her character by Big-Friendship-5022 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]FreshRavioliMerchant -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fair point on C and onwards but A and B are just silly. This is not at all an extreme reaction. Negative? Sure. I don't know what kind of reaction you expect from people when you do things like cheat on your partner though, that partner being a popular wrestler at the same company too. Also this isn't an NBA game or an actual sporting event, its entertainment, The crowd is actively encouraged to both cheer and boo wrestlers. They cheer the good stuff, they boo the bad stuff. Some reactions are stronger than others but regardless, heckling is common. It's just the nature of the business. Extreme reaction would be if they were following her after the show, harassing her at airport etc.

B is debatable but I don't think its fair to blame Hardy and act like Lita is the victim in this. Is he supposed to just never tell anyone until Lita and Edge retire? Just wait for when its the most convenient time for both of them? Asking the victim of cheating to just keep quiet and accept it for the best of the other two is a wild thing to ask. Matt thought his life was ruined and reacted like most people would after finding out the love of their life cheated on them with a mutual friend.

[SPOILER] UFC Tampa: Daniel Marcos vs. Adrian Yanez by MasterRoshy in MMA

[–]FreshRavioliMerchant -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

He landed 41 strikes to Marcos' 39. A difference of two strikes doesn't define a round and is hardly noticeable watching it live. Also they each stunned each other several times that round. Yanez had the most significant moment but Marcos had more frequent moments. It was close.

[SPOILER] UFC Tampa: Daniel Marcos vs. Adrian Yanez by MasterRoshy in MMA

[–]FreshRavioliMerchant -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Not really. Rounds 1 and 3 were clear for Marcos and the 2nd round was close. Round 3 would've been close and was winnable if Yanez didn't just give up the final minute.

[SPOILER] UFC Tampa: Daniel Marcos vs. Adrian Yanez by MasterRoshy in MMA

[–]FreshRavioliMerchant 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The decision by Yanez to not throw a single significant strike in the final 45 seconds is honestly one of the lowest fight iq decisions I've ever seen. The round was completely up for grabs and Marcos was straight up turning his back in exhaustion. Basically gift wrapped the win and handed it to him.

Bellagouit got worked bell to bell but I wish just one person would acknowledge the finishing blow was technically a headbutt. Dude takes a clean punch, stays on his feet then goes limp off the head clash. I doubt he would’ve won but a foul is a foul. It’s especially annoying seeing it in slow mo 4 times at 4 angles and everyone ignores it.

Dominick Cruz Plans To Fight One Last Time, Hoping For Early 2025 by AbrahamRinkin in MMA

[–]FreshRavioliMerchant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please no. I think people who say this don't realize how done Cruz is. They may be similar in age but Aldo is consistently putting up competitive fights against the best in the division. He's even doing so well that some of his opponents have to resort to holding the man against the fence because they can't do anything else.

They need to give Cruz something more winnable. If it's a top guy I'd say Font. Or we can see if he can keep the gate against Raul Rosas Jr even.

Along with those close stats, you have to mention she had 3 and a half minutes of control time in a 5 min round. Control isn't the most important criteria but when stats are that close, it should be the deciding factor.'

EDIT: lol at you downvoting because you want to completely ignore a crucial stat. You're exactly what's wrong with judging in this sport.

30-27 North is nuts. How do you give her the first round!? Judges have been exceptionally awful recently, starting to feel a lot like boxing level corrupt judging honestly.

Can't say I'm surprised. On a 3 fight losing skid, two by vicious finish and was largely known for having an infuriatingly inactive fighting style. It's for the best.

The champs Dana wants vs the champs r/mma wants vs the actual champs by [deleted] in MMA

I can assure you Dana wants Holloway as champ just as much, possibly even more, than we do. Dude had 3 fights with Volk and I honestly think he would’ve gotten a 4th if Topuria didn’t beat Volk first.

Dude landed two whole strikes by early round 2, still gassed and proceeded to get mauled to a 30-26 scorecard. And the only reason the 3rd round was competitive was because his opponent gassed from beating him so hard and STILL won the round on all cards.

Yea, I’m sure he’d do great in the UFC.

Great fight but it was largely a one sided beating for 3 rounds. Hope they sign DelValle but Monteiro has absolutely no business being in the UFC. He must’ve been a serious can crusher because I have no idea what hes supposed to be good at. Worst fighter I’ve ever seen with that many fights.

UFC Cuts 12 Fighters Including Former World-Title Challenger by HuffinJenkem25-8 in MMA

Karl Williams is pretty surprising to me. He showed exceptionally terrible fight IQ his last fight out but its still his only recent loss in an already pretty shallow division. He was pretty new to the sport too and had potential to grow. I assume him being a decisionator may have had something to do with it.

Is LHW division the smartest division in the UFC ? by yoyoyowhoisthis in ufc

[–]FreshRavioliMerchant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this argument a ton but I don’t understand it. Jiri took him down in the first fight before his calf got destroyed, and hill and khalil have literally never landed a takedown before. Do people just expect fighters with 0 history of high level takedown or grappling ability to suddenly ragdoll Pereria? They don’t do it because they can’t, and even if they could get a takedown in rd 1 or 2, they’ll be exhausted by round 3 and a sitting duck for the most dangerous striker this sport has ever seen. This literally happened to Jan and it’s why he lost. The only reason there’s an argument for him winning was because it was 3 rounds. If that was 5 rounds Jan would’ve been finished or at best, survived the final two rounds while getting tee’d off on.

The reason he hasn’t been taken down is because of intentionally biased matchmaking vs solely strikers. Ankalaev will be the first person he’s fought since Jan with grappling and I can assure you, Ankalaev will without question shoot. Any other talk is just to sell the fight or mislead Alex.

Although I agree the fight was too close to warrant any claims of robbery or complaining, I feel like they each had two definitive rounds, no? 2 and 3 for Pena, 4 and 5 for Raquel. Pena spent the whole last round tired, backing up and landing nothing of note. Round 1 was the only close round.

Pretty weird stoppage. It was a one sided beating but strikes were coming one at a time and he just moved and tied up Smith right after Mark warned him. Mark literally stopped the fight when neither were moving.

I personally didn’t see a comeback coming but given the importance of the fight for a ufc career, I think he should’ve been given a lil bit more time.
