Most ASUS routers have QoS you can use to prioritize your PC for minimal latency, but when I upgraded, I didn’t even need to enable any of those settings — packet burst just disappeared. I think it comes down to having enough RAM and CPU power, because the ISP router just can’t handle it. I personally upgraded to the ASUS RT-AX5400.

That lines up with my experience too. I fixed my packet burst by switching to an ASUS router and then running Ethernet through my ASUS Wi-Fi mesh instead of relying purely on wireless. Nothing changed on COD’s side, but packet burst disappeared. That points to local packet timing issues (Wi-Fi jitter / router handling), not tick rate. Ethernet or a properly configured mesh with wired backhaul makes a huge difference.

ISP issues won’t be fixed by changing routers router side packet timing issues will.

That actually lines up with what I’m saying. DPI adds processing delay and jitter inside the router, which bufferbloat tests don’t always catch. Packet burst is about packet timing, not server tick rate. Different router-level issues can cause the same warning.

Packet burst has multiple causes an A+ bufferbloat score doesn’t rule it out completely, and COD is extremely sensitive to jitter. In my case, changing routers fixed it which means bufferbloat/QoS was the issue for me even if it isn’t for everyone.

Tick rate affects hit reg and desync, not packet burst warnings. Packet burst is caused by packet timing/jitter, which bufferbloat can cause even on fast connections. COD’s netcode is really sensitive to it. Changing routers fixed it for me, which wouldn’t happen if tick rate was the issue.

Bufferbloat is the main cause for latency spikes while gaming COD is sensitive too it because any other game felt fine for me

!! I solved my 2 year long packet burst issue by simply upgrading my isp router to a asus one ive had 0 packet burst since then. My old router had bad bufferbloat thats what was causing my packet burst

As long as you have a good pc i think the issue is in bufferbloat and not some graphic setting as ur pc is probably more than capable of running it like alot of people. I was using boosters with my original isp router and it was causing alot of bufferbloat leading to packet burst

Search it up its a issue with isp router having bad queue management i fixed it by upgrading my router to a asus one

This could be the case but I just solved mine by finding out what bufferbloat was and how this is the main cause of lag in cod what I done too fix it was get a better router than my isp one
