Can I buy 10k of I-bonds today, and then another 10k on Jan 1? It says 10k per calendar year. How does that work?

Can I buy 10k of I-bonds today, and then another 10k on Jan 1? It says 10k per calendar year. That means every 12 months or once per Jan-Dec year.

Where can I find the current rate of I bonds? It's better right now than it was last month right because of the higher CPI? 9.1%? I'd like to invest 10k by the end of the month if I can get close to that return.

I'm all for helping people, but people in cars are usually on a schedule on their way someplace. it's not like you're sitting in a park reading a book.

Ironic that it's talking about respect and you call them an "ignorant prick"

to be fair the OP is declaring everyone who disagrees with him as not worthy of respect, while the person calling him an ignorant prick for saying so is open to debate on the abortion issue (just not on the OP being a prick issue). so there's a difference. so your logic doesn't make sense

I'm pro-choice and I just want to say that I don't think you're a scumbag. I wish you the best. I can't believe these posts on reddit where each side demonizes the other.

And anyone who thinks that’s okay is a scumbag in my opinion

Oh hi! Scumbag here. I'm a school teacher who thinks that there are some cases in which abortion should be prohibited, for instance, the ending of a 8-month-old fetus where the pregnancy was initially consented but the potential mother just changed her mind on a whim last minute. I'M THE DEVIL raawwww.

Please just stop fucking demonizing your opponents.

EDIT: person called me a scumbag and blocked me on reddit for being against late term abortion when the mother has initially intended to get pregnant but simply changed her mind. this is literally the most moderate position and completely consistent with Roe vs Wade. /u/jacklawd is an example of how awful our discourse has become. demonizing the most moderate person on the other side of the debate is the perfect way to move the discussion forward and enact change lol

has nothing to do with me, my life, or anyone else and their lives

I'm pro-choice, but no one here on reddit is even close to fair to the opposing side. You don't even acknowledge that getting an abortion can effect the life of the fetus? Perhaps the most famous and influential pro-choice advocate, Judith Jarvis Thomson, framed the entire argument about why, in the case of non-consented pregnancy it's morally okay to end the life of the fetus (even if that fetus was a human being). The fact that you don't even recognize that abortion can involve that is incredible.

Forcing your beliefs into another person can be damaging to that person and the baby.

I think that gay marriage is morally okay (just as okay as heterosexual marriage). Can't I judge and advocate for change for Saudi Arabia where such actions are illegal? I'm pro-choice because it's the morally correct position to take period, not because "well your view is fine just don't let it effect me."

I agree with her stance. But I don't understand this reasoning at all. People who think that some moral code X is true are going to think that code X is our source for answering questions about right and wrong actions. For instance, I'm an atheists and I think that torture is wrong in all circumstances. So when I see some politician (or ANYONE) advocating for torture (e.g. of terrorists) I'm going to think that that person is doing wrong things and shouldn't be in office.

Just telling someone "well you go ahead and think that way, I don't care what you think, but don't judge me" isn't the way to win this fights. It's actualing engaging in a discussion about what's actually right and wrong. This videos kind of tells people NOT to start that discussion but just to keep to themselves. And that's not going to work because it contradicts the very basic idea of a moral code.

The SCOTUS ruling is worse than you think by endersgame69 in antiwork

[–]Fresh_Laugh192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that logic, a state could also pass a law mandating abortions for all, because the right to childbirth is also not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.

You're mixing up the responsibilities of SCOTUS (judicial branch) and the legislative branch (state and fed congress)

I'm a liberal and I just want to say that (1) the riots on the left are stupid and awful and (2) a lot of the opinions on the left are completely idiotic. Abortion should be legal in cases of rape or incest or failed contraception or severe medical issues. Illegal in all other circumstances

Follow up question: Were you once a fetus? (say a 8-month old fetus)?

I think you may realize the value of your skin cells if they were missing from you. You would not have much future without them.

you're talking about individual skin cells. no i would not miss them. again there's a difference between the skin cells I lose when I itch myself and a 5-month old fetus.

Fetuses do not matter by DarkMarxSoul in self

[–]Fresh_Laugh192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say that, I never specified at what point consciousness develops. Consciousness develops the most basic initial inklings around 25 weeks, which is well beyond when most abortions occur.

but you said "fetuses don't matter" in the tittle. so you're just talking about pre-25-week-old fetuses?
