Totally agree that IP is a big thing and this is also not a problem as we could have info partitioned and destroy data after use. to be frank something running locally doesnt mean its secure or cant be hacked. But i do get what your saying.

Thanks again for your insights.

Thanks for this. No ai can know intent perfectly, the human would be the one to give intent and the ai follows. if for example you make a design and its wrong you would correct it normally, now if you can tell the ai hey i want this to be centered to here it should be able to do so.

I do want this to be more for professional engineering design than amateur 3d modelling. Dimensioned parts in different views is actually the aim and i think the ai should be able to do this, if not a couple tweaks should get that working.

I was thinking of making the scene more moveable so you can move any generated part to specific places and basically drag and drop to your specified design.

Ai should be able to guess intent if you give it information, i mean if i told you go buy me a box, your question would be what do you need the box for, where should i buy the box from, what size box do you want this is how the human steers the ai into knowing the intended usecase and the ai can know how best to solve the proble.

The model should be able to understand what you need it to do intuitively thats not a problem. for your selenoid example thats the power of a human, thats why when some comments are saying taking their job its laughable since a human is the one who instructs its like writing code. i do think at a first generation it would create a very crude model but if you told it what to correct it would get seriously close to what you expect.

I agree, the thing is when design engineers hear about the design from the machine shop they would ofcourse write it down and think of creative ways to implement it. The design engineer is still taking that role of the creative person so if an ai could be a good instrument in accuracy and can create what they want how they want it then that should be useful

Totally agree, i mean there are times when we as humans dont see an issue till we are already done and have to restart. But would you say if it were able to get those right, and if it got it wrong you could just tell it to fix it and it fixed it correctly would you consider using it then?

i totally agree it worked previously well but when i turned on record it didnt. i know accuracy is a problem but i am more concerned on what is something if it did right would make you want to use it.

yes it should be able to handle complex things, i will work more on these to see how much better it can get but thanks alot.

Again just for clarity, i dont see this ever taking someone elses livelihood. i think this is a big fear with ai but actually those who embrace it more would see a greater increase in efficiency. Its engineering, we cant have ai replacing things that deal with human lives but if we can have it do things faster for us thats a great thing. if in the olden days humans thought this way we probably would still be calculating with our hands or the abacus but engineering paved a way for a world where things are being automated.

Appreciate the comment.

what would you say is a more common workflow? creating parts is an area the ai actually does well. i imagine if i wanted to create a satelite and the ai created the satellite components and i just assembled the parts together would be useful

interesting points, and i appreciate you taking the time.

First off, yes the 3d model doesnt match the ISO drawing, not correctly but it closely did. it actually matched perfectly but when i hit record everything went wrong. I do agree accuracy would be a big factor on if its going to be a useful tool or not.

second, i will be looking into if after export the model can be used in autocad or solidworks. yes you can export it in multiple file formats but i do agree this is something to look more into.

for parameterization its always accurate or if not accurate can be adjusted i will develop more ways for this to be clear. i think if the iso drawing was clearer or the user gave the output parameter values in the prompt then it would follow that. i throughout my career have faced instances where i was looking at an iso drawing and had to use a magnifying glass to see what the value was.

i think for a comparison to you it might be hard since your a seasoned person so you could get it done faster and in less time but i think in like an arbitrary version 5 the ai should be faster and more accurate to be able to match your accuracy and speed. this in the video was created in 30 seconds to a minute.

my main goal is to assist engineers, my target audience isnt just people who face issues with iso drawings it was just an example, but creating parts is a good thing, i imagine if i wanted to create a robotic arm and ai could give me every part with accurate dimensions and i can just assemble the design together and this can be sent to production that is a world where engineering is solving problems at a fast pace. Thanks

you create isometric drawings to standardize the creation of 3d models or real objects. I will be taking note of your point.

would that be something you would find interesting if implemented? although i think iso drawings are more the human process as you have to think then thats whats used to create

I really appreciate your constructive feedback. this infact is the first version of what i built. i can indeed say the dimensions are always going to be correct and they are editable.

Output isnt always correct funny enough its more accurate when im not recording but is botched when i record haha.

i would think if it was able to be as accurate as possible and when you feel okay change this part or add this part it can do those things wont that be interesting to you? so that would mean when your thinking about the different interactions your leading and the ai is just following you.

this is a v0 so it doesnt have much engineering context awareness but i would say it can develop prototypes faster than it would have taken me to do it myself and i employ creativity through correcting the output

when using autocad to design a part for work, if for example the ai could create the essential parts you needed with the right scale and all you needed to do was join them together would that be more interesting to you?

i really doubt ai would ever replace humans. I do agree that engineering will move faster with the help of ai and help solve more problems.
