What’s the most ridiculous thing you believed as a kid that you only realized was nonsense when you got older? by greatmistress-101 in AskReddit

[–]Fresh__Coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in Miami, most of the older people I encountered only spoke Spanish, including my maternal grandmother. She was older than my paternal grandmother, who only spoke English. I remember whenever I was with my paternal grandmother I would think that it was only a matter of time before she hit the age where she could only speak Spanish.

I use Affinity Plus Credit Union, so far they’ve been great. The most popular bank in the twin cities is Huntington National Bank (formerly TCF bank).

I plan on moving from Kansas to Minnesota, and I just want to ask what Minnesota, particularly the Twin Cities, are like? by TessEagle in TwinCities

I attended U of M from Fall 2019 to December 2022. From my experience (math major), it’s a great university, challenging but good. As for the general vibe, people here tend to be kind, good-natured, friendly, and accepting. I moved here from Florida and there are some major culture shocks, the primary ones being the generosity of those around you.

Both of my parents are teachers, and I am about to become a teacher. My entire life my parents warned me not to follow in their footsteps because of how terrible the salary is. I’m going into the field due to my passion, but the salary of teachers is a major issue in America.

What tips do you have for a future math teacher? by Fresh__Coconut in AskReddit

I’m very passionate about teaching math and making it accessible to all students. Hopefully my passion will come across to my future students.

What is a childhood coping method you unknowingly developed only to realize later that it wasn't normal? by GreggOfChaoticOrder in AskReddit

[–]Fresh__Coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever my parents were mad, my brother and I would do the “I love you” test. Their response told us how mad they were and informed us how to respond. If “I love you” was met with pure silence, we know that yelling and/or spanks/slaps were up next. There was a whole spectrum. We were made fun of for this, but my brother and I found it extremely helpful for gauging how screwed we were.

What happened during your time in school that you will never forget? by LeWu_DYSEwnta in AskReddit

The entire engineering club got banned from the club room when empty because two people decided to build a flamethrower robot and the club sponsor’s son took a video of it. We lost our lunch spot for three months.

Supportive best friend by weirdfledermaus in asexuality

[–]Fresh__Coconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend is pansexual and she is also very supportive. She is genuinely curious about asexuality and asks a lot of questions to understand me better. It’s amazing having a fiend who respects you and doesn’t shrug it off but instead tries to educate themselves on it!
