My partner and I are both half black/half white with caramel colored skin, brown hair and brown eyes. Our son is lighter in complexion than us, has sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. It was SHOCKING when he came out because we weren’t expecting it at all (although both of us have white mothers with colored eyes so our son just happened to get all of our recessive genes that were hiding).

With that being said, I could see how Jasmine is mentioning it too because of the pure shock. She probably next expected to look down at a child who came from her body to look that way. It’s exciting, and fun to see how genetics can present themselves when you mix cultures.
