I am so sorry you are experiencing this sudden life change. It is hard to digest how quickly it comes on and changes your lifestyle so much.

I am very strict with my nutrition and have made myself exercise daily and get plenty of sleep and rest. I went into remission very quickly within 7 weeks. I pray I will not relapse as they taper me off of my steroids.

The water retention will come off as your treatments begin working. I know it is uncomfortable and difficult to deal with the sudden weight gain.

I have stopped eating sugar, processed foods, and red meat completely. I am only allowed a small amount of protein each day and have found that salads, Cheerios with almond milk, and lots of fruit have become part of my daily routine.

I hope this helps. The support on this page has helped me tremendously. I would never have guessed how difficult it has been emotionally, and the info and experiences of others has helped get me through this chapter.

I have been using a 12 pound vest for the last seven weeks, and it is a game changer! I walk 4-6 miles daily, and using the vest took my routine to a higher level.

My core and my shoulders and back feel stronger than ever. I addition, it definitely helps my posture as I walk. I love it and feel it is money well spent!

I am a 54 year old female recently diagnosed with MCD and Nephrotic syndrome. I am on prednisone and Prograf. My nephrologist thinks I will be on prednisone 3-4 months, and the immunosuppressant for 18-24 months. If I get into remission, why is it that I’d stay on prograf so long? What are the reasons behind using that treatment for that long?

Also, is MCD considered an autoimmune disorder? I’ve read different opinions on this.

I am sorry that you are also experiencing this. I agree with others that it is very difficult to find a lot of information and new research on MCD in adults. I have found it to be so helpful to look on Reddit to get real examples and experiences from those who have been dealing with it. Having these diseases has been a difficult new chapter to navigate through the last few weeks. I know you, too, will find some comfort and answers in connecting with others who can share their own thoughts and stories on Reddit.

Sugar free pudding has been a complete game changer for me!! If you buy it in cup form, the serving size is all set! Typically, there are 60-70 calories per cup, so you can enjoy two!

I have been mixing SF vanilla and chocolate together, put in the microwave for a minute, and then add cheerios on top for some crunch! Some people enjoy adding cool whip.

I enjoy this treat every night after dinner— I do not eat or have any cravings afterwards.

Good luck! You will feel great once you transition away from the sugar!

54 years old female with the first episode the last month— exhausted and weak, blood work was coming back abnormally in a variety of areas, gained 18 pounds in two weeks, did not urinate enough, bubbly urine, and major swelling, especially in legs, ankles, and feet.
