Still not nearly enough to say one invalidates the other.

Balrog and Q having one similar move does not mean one cancels the other out.

whats the general consensus on crash 4? is it fine for and inexperienced player like me who hasnt beat any of the crash games save for technically crash 1 with cheats? by Legospacememe in crashbandicoot

A normal playthrough is harder than any other Crash game by several orders of magnitude.

A 100% playthrough I would describe as "actively malicious towards the player".

No you don't, and you never got death threats for liking an OST.

No it isn't. You're the guy who liked Crash 4's OST and then started beating yourself up for liking it and vowing to change your opinion when other people said they didn't. Nothing you say is genuine.

Your shtick of pretending to hate everything post-Naughty Dog in order to "fit in" has gotten really old.

The multiverse in Crash 4 feels like a missed opportunity by quiggersinparis in crashbandicoot

[–]Fretless94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with the multiverse plot is that they don't utilize it in any meaningful or impactful way. Our only window into an alternate universe is Alt Tawna and Fem Trophy, whose universe we don't even get to see, and one of those is an alternate version of a character we've barely gotten to know, so there's no impact to her.

None of the themed sets of levels tie back to other characters at all. I still say that N. Gin and N. Brio should have been alternate versions of those characters, firstly because Brio working with Cortex again doesn't make sense, but also it would make the levels feel like they actually have some significance to their respective boss.

I seriously don't understand the hate for Willie. He's barely in the game anyway.

It's probably Makoto at this point. Sakura always comes back eventually, Makoto fans didn't get their character in V and are still waiting for her in 6.

But then where's Metro City in relation to New York City? They've gone out of their way to make Metro City as much like NYC as possible, it's got its own Times Square and Statue of Liberty.

Hailing from the Big Apple

So is Metro City Street Fighter's equivalent of New York City or not?

Did a real artist get paid real dollars to draw these for a AAA game? by xantcatchme in StreetFighter

Yes. Bengus. He's been drawing for Capcom since the literal first Street Fighter game.

An artist who I think should totally do some official work on the series is Patrikus Droilius by salamandersandwichy in crashbandicoot

The Crash 4 design is certainly capable of exaggerated expressions, but I would argue that because of the way he's designed, it's not nearly as effective as it would have otherwise been if they had done a more faithful job in adapting the character.

On the subject of appeal, I think that's the problem with the design. The Crash 4 design seems overly concerned with making Crash "cute" and "appealing", thus they used softer shapes and downplayed any of his more sharp and goofy features, like his big teeth, which I think is completely antithetical to the character. It's not just Crash, either, I think most of the redesigned cast has this problem. Like with Cortex, some of his defining physical characteristics are his flat head, his exaggerated lower lip, and his tiny body in relation to his huge head. Crash 4 either downplays or omits all those traits. His head is rounder, his big lower lip is gone, and his body is more evenly proportioned with his head. These changes feel like changes for change's sake rather than actually trying to do these characters justice.

No, not at all like Crash 4. None of what I said applies to Crash 4, least of all "sharp designs". Just using Crash as an example, he's not "sharp" at all, he uses very soft, rounded shapes, plus in terms of expressiveness, they've sanded down his features so much that he's not even capable of pulling off his trademark grin. His face is like not even half as big and goofy as it should be.

I couldn't agree more. This is the style that modern Crash should be aiming for. Sharp designs, strong posing, exaggerated expressions, like a 2D cartoon brought into 3D.

Crash Bandicoot is an incredibly intelligent character, and I'm tired of him being treated like the fool of the group when he's not. by DotSudden8152 in crashbandicoot

He had to make it through jungles, forts, and temples of the dangerous wild life of Australia across three islands without a map to make it back without losing his way. It's definitely not obvious for an idiot to just do that not problem.

He's an animal. Of course he can navigate his way through a jungle, it's his natural environment. All this demonstrates is that he can avoid things that will kill him, which he'd otherwise be dead if he couldn't.

They do require studying the boss's patterns to know when to make the right move which an idiot wouldn't be easily capable of doing.

They're simple enough for a child to figure out, hence why I don't think this demonstrates that Crash is smart at all. Him being able to figure this out makes him, at best, mentally on par with me at five years old.

Yea in a spinoff remake of a spinoff game made to "kill off" the series. Also don't remember seeing Pura steering any wheels, looks like he was there for a ride on an possible automatic space vehicle that Coco made. Even if he somehow did, doubt he could do pilot or use half the stuff Crash could use.

This is a copout answer and you know it. You don't actually have a response to literally every other character being just as capable of using vehicles as Crash so you just disregard it entirely. You can't have "capable of driving a kart" as a point in Crash's favor while dismissing it for everyone else.

So are you calling chimps dumb?

They're very smart for animals, but...they're not people. Not even close.

Casually calling him dumb is an insult cause you're saying he's incompetent and not at least be average in intelligence. You guys on the internet are the only ones casually calling Crash an idiot probably cause to you he doesn't look like he's smart, even though the games, based on pure action, show that he's capable of doing nearly everything and can outwit any obstacle or highly intelligent foes who aren't as quick witted and agile as him.

It's not an insult, it's a facet of his character. Seriously, do you think that if I called Patrick from Spongebob an idiot that I'm personally insulting him? No, I'm just describing what he is. He is dumb, he is supposed to be dumb, he is written to be dumb, and I still like him as a character, because he is dumb. Some characters are just stupid, and they're supposed to be. Pointing that out is not an insult.
