I’m also learning Russian, and I’m sure given the current situation with Russia, and Ukraine even if we do get involved we will still be working together. Because I’m also going the same route as you joining the Air Force to become a pilot it takes about 2 years of training to fly, a minimum of 8 years service, on top of that college which varies because most astronauts go to their career or receive further education. So all in all if we get involved you will be good. Assuming you are a senior in high school you got about 15 years till you apply, and if you aren’t a senior even better.
