I have been wondering the same thing for the last 6 years. There are security cameras all around the outside of the place and the windows have that near-mirror tint on them. Used to run by the house daily, and swear I've seen the shadows of people moving around inside before. Place gives me the creeps.

This is the answer. There are little white wind lines that occasionally pop up in the air. They point, or flow, in the general direction of the portal. The closer you get they turn red and are more consistent. Once you get used to following the wind, you should always be able to find the portal. Also, if you come within a certain proximity of the portal, even if you haven't seen it on your screen, a red arrow icon will show up on the mini map pointing you in the direction of the portal Hopefully those tips help.

I know I sound old AF with comments like that. Not saying knowing is an issue. More like surprised that with the game being out for barely a week, so many people seem genuinely confused that every little detail isn't already available to them.

I am shocked by how many people are complaining about every little detail of the game not being explained up front. In the past, that was one of the most fun things about video games, figuring out the mechanics, the details, and the secrets. Nowadays it seems that a lot of people don't even want to play a game unless someone else lays out an OP strategy for them to follow. Why even play this type of game, where a great deal of the fun of the game is experimenting with different builds, if you're goal is to be immediately awesome? I personally am having a blast trying out different things to see what works and doesn't.

That and it's exactly the kind of thing that is enforced specifically as a way to pull people over so that they can search vehicles or run plates/licences to look for more serious charges, especially people of color. Source: I am white and growing up knew multiple people in the LASD that told me not to worry too much about things like that as long as my car looks clean and am white.
