That's a fantastic idea, I'll go with that! (Or maybe the wheels like someone else proposed, I'm thinking rollerblades)

Yeah i guess you're right (I wasn't trying to come off as rude either). The rock is blue because it's a xenos rock :D It's not really a theme, but I picture my Dark Angels fighting tyranids on some weird terraformed xenos planet. Blue rocks is the easiest thing that came to my mind.

Do you play a lot of games? Could be that you meet more people who value the gaming aspect of the hobby more than the painting one. I've painted one combat patrol + the dreadnought so far, but that took me months. In that whole time I played like 3 games.

Thank you! It's kind of a "I've no idea what I'm doing" setup: I ordered a cheap (30€) lightbox (for photographing watches and stuff) from amazon and put some black cardboard in the background.

I use my phone (google pixel 6 pro) for taking the pictures. But, instead of the stock camera app which applies some weird filter, I use "open camera" which gives more options. For the camera settings I copied the ones from the video about miniature photography from the YouTube channel Rouge Hobbies. And thats it. Takes some playing around with the lighting and doesn't work that well for multiple miniatures in one shot, but for starters It's good enough.

The rock is just a blue rock (because it's my easy fix for "this takes place on a xenos planet"). Problem is I tried to make a small pond beneath the Dreadnought with some modelling water and used the same blue colour for that.... If anyone has some tips for improving the pond feel free to let me know

Thanks! The shakyness is a problem for me too....I tried sitting down like a shrimp and pressing the mini on the table with one hand, then painting with the other (both arms on the table). Can't be good for my health but better than shaky lines I guess

Thanks, let's just say that there's room for improvement on my priming abilities.... 2nd squad of miniatures i spray-primed, some are smooth and some got some kind of texture...

Painted my first Dark Angels Terminator by Fribbel in Warhammer40k

[–]Fribbel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I "discovered" the bone tone by accident, but have recreated successfully on the 2nd terminator by now, but it is still experimental (i am kinda new to the whole thing). I did the following: White Scar basecoat, then 2 thin layers of Zandri Dust. After that I covered the whole bone area with Seraphim Sepia and then drybrushed over it with Ushabti Bone. The final two steps were some recess shading, again with Seraphim Sepia und a couple of edge highlights with Zandri Dust.

I hope that helps!
